Useless trivia

Would someone mind explaining exactly how Cinnabar/Cianwood/Dewford create an "elemental cycle"? IIMarckus 00:05, 19 September 2008 (UTC)

Southwestern Island trend? Cianwood City isn't on an island anymore than Vermillion City or Goldenrod City. Cianwood is based on Naruto, which, while on the ocean and across a sea route from the Kansai region of Japan, is on Shikoku, one of the four Great Islands. Shikoku is kinda big to be lopped together with the far smaller islands that Cinnabar and Dewford are based on. Please try to understand the original basis of the game. Even if IN AMERICA people don't know a thing about the geography of Japan, players of the ORIGINAL JAPANESE version would completely understand that these games are based off regions of Japan. Is it a city or a town?

The volcano...

I'm playing Heartgold but I haven't reached Cinnabar yet. Has the volcano erupted in Heartgold/Soulsiver? The article doesn't even mention these games. --Dr. James 03:37, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Pidgey and Rattata

I remember playing in my Blue Version, if you surf on the portion next to the Gym, you can encounter a Pidgey/Rattata even though you're on water. I think this was a glitch as I would encounter Missingno. later. Note: this was a long time ago, I haven't played my Blue for a long time.--ForceFire 05:46, 9 October 2009 (UTC)

Description

Speaking about Japanese, why is the translation mouse-over thing for the town slogan not completely translated? It says "Guren's red is the colour of passion", but shouldn't it either be "Crimson red is the colour of passion" or "Cinnabar (Island)'s red is the colour of passion"? Because it is a direct translation, not translated then interpreted if you get what I mean? I mean, if you translated it then interpreted it into something different then it's not really a translation? 'Guren' refers to Cinnabar island, as that is it's Japanese name: 'Guren Island'. You should be using the picture from FireRed/ Leaf Green not HG/SS

Blue can be found at Cinnabar Island

Excuse me, but on the 'Differences between generations' part of the articles it says that 'Blue can be first found at Cinnabar, because he was bored and decided to take a stroll there.' To me, this doesn't really sound believable... Should I remove it? Thanks much. Ps. Excuse me if this is in the wrong place, but I'm fairly new to Bulbapedia, thank you. Japanese name dilemma

First of all, I'm playing Japanese Crystal legitimately on an emulator (being this the only moral aspect that I have broken here). Anyway, I was curious and used the Walk Through Walls cheat to access Kanto earlier and check the references to Cinnabar Island. And this is where I reached a dilemma. There is no obvious consistency in the name used:
-> Town Map and location entrance graphic both call it グレンじま Guren Island;
-> the signposts in both Cinnabar Island and Seafoam Islands refer to it as グレンタウン Guren Town, with and without a space between グレン and タウン.
So my question is: how do we reflect this on the article? There might be even more references to verify and we need to check Generation I as well and then compare the information with the one in the remakes. SatoMew 00:14, 13 March 2012 (UTC)

I think making a new section on the page regarding the different Japanese names is the best idea ("Names"). As for the introduction, I think putting "Generation II" in both notes would be a good idea. Thanks, I'll take care of that then. And I checked the Japanese Yellow and the same situation occurs: it's both referred to as グレンじま Guren Island and グレンタウン Guren Town. I'll assume it's the same for FRLG and HGSS. If someone gets around to verify this in the Japanese versions of the remakes of both RG and GS, please update the article appropriately if required.
