Just to clarify (regarding my removal of a piece of trivia)
The reason I removed the trivia piece about Chatter causing Chatot to be banned from the Global Union is because there's no reason to assume this.  It's not like Nintendo could've been worried about foul language, because as the article already states, Chatter distorts anything you record with it.  I was going to put this in the edit summary, but in the midst of correcting a typo, I accidentially hit "enter" and it submitted the edit.  <small>- unsigned comment from [[User:Missingno. "When Chatter is used by wild and Trainer-owned Chatot, or Chatot who have not had a voice recorded for them, the sound used is Chatot's regular cry, and the odds of confusion is set to 0%"
This seems to no longer be true. Wild Chatot using their default cry are certainly more than capable of confusing your Pokémon this gen around.--Pyleic (talk) 02:48, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
Upon further tests, the case seems to be that, in Gen VI, Chatter cannot be recorded at all; in exchange, the confusion chance appears to be very high. Pyleic (talk) 04:16, 26 October 2013 (UTC)
:The Pokémon X & Pokémon Y: The Official Kalos Region Pokédex & Postgame Adventure Guide book says that when Chatter is used by a Chatot, it inflicts the confusion status condition (while this may seem irrelevant, as Chatot is the only Pokémon that can learn Chatter, but the move could still be used by a non-Chatot if they were to use Transform or Metronome; use Mirror Move, Copycat, or Mimic after a Chatot used it;or have the Imposter [[Ability])]. This seems to suggest that whenever Chatot uses it, it has a 100% chance of causing confusion. Mangaman13 (talk) 15:01, 24 February 2014 (UTC)
::Claims like that require testing, always. You cannot trust the wording of a book 100%, because they were likely ONLY taking into perspective that Chatter is its sig move, therefore nothing else would use it (despite there clearly being the means for otherwise). That said, my Imposter!Ditto was able to use Chatter and confuse the target; that means Transform will, too. But it was still technically a Chatot. I was then able to confuse a Chatot using Mirror Move Mimicked by Sudowoodo, meaning confusion is not a Chatot!effect only. So yeah, test stuff before inserting information like that into the article. Pokemon Battle Revolution

How does this move work in PBR as it requires speaking into the DS Mic, something that can't be done on a Wii. Gligar 21:07, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

Using the microphone isn't required. You can change the recording used for the attack outside of battle, and only if you wish to do so. The Wii not having a microphone doesn't stop the attack from being usable.--Loveはドコ? (talk contribs) 01:13, 28 September 2008 (UTC)

However, Chatter is the only thing that makes Chatot unique. It's not like Nintendo would accidentally ban a Pokémon that can say bad words.----無限の知性DENNOUZENSHI 19:25, 24 May 2011 (UTC)

Pokestar Studios

I believe it may be possible B2W2 changed some mechanics of this move may have changed mainly its status as "unsketchable". Due to it being known by one of the Pokestar Studios pokemon. --Azurillglow2mlw7 23:12, 2 August 2012 (UTC)
This probably should be looked into, but note that the Pokémon that knows the move isn't actually a Pokémon. Therefore none of the moves it knows would be legitimately available given it isn't actually a Pokémon. This would also apply to the other Pokémon that aren't actually Pokémon.
