I hardly see hoe it's speculation, there's enough reasoning to say it's true. [[User:Yveltal0003|Yveltal0003]] ([[User talk:Yveltal0003|talk]]) 11:10, 13 April 2014 (UTC)

Why?

Um, why does the trivia say: "Prior to the release of Pokémon X and Y, pre-release media reffered to Calem as "Xavier." "

Wouldn't it make more sense to say: "Currently Pokémon X and Y pre-release media is reffering to Calem as "Xavier." "? You know, beacause the game isn't actually released yet? ★☆Togetic45☆★ 15:12, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

It would make more sense to hide it until October 12th, same with Yvonne's trivia. --Reliジーランス? 15:39, 21 June 2013 (UTC)
Why would we hide it? We know their real names now. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 16:38, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Because the game hasn't been released yet. It's just stupid to have trivia about their prerelease names up here when it's not even October 12th yet. (Also Xavier and Yvonne need to be turned into redirects, Whitlea and Blair are) --Reliジーランス? 16:43, 21 June 2013 (UTC)

Ok. A big fuss happened just because I asked something, but no matter. I'm sure the higher ranked users know more then me. Whatever. :) ★☆Togetic45☆★ 11:56, 9 July 2013 (UTC)

Player versus NPC

Judging from where both Xavier and Calem's names are located on the official website, why can't we say that the NPC's name is Calem and that the identical player's name is Xavier? Obviously, they don't have the same plotline (one being your neighbor and one being you), so technically they could be considered separate characters. Besides, the official website is actually using both names, in what seem to be these two situations. I know that this is a rather complicated way to put it, and it may be easier to call him Calem and say that Xavier was exclusively prerelease (although Calem technically is, too), but this is what the website seems to be saying, and saying otherwise would be just as speculative, if not more so. (For proof of my statements, see the official website's "Characters" part of the X and Y section.) EpicDeino (talk) 17:45, 30 June 2013 (UTC)

No. This happens every single game. When you play as May, you get Brendan and your neighbor. When you play as Lucas, Dawn is Professor Rowan's assistant. When you play as Ethan, Lyra is your neighbor. When you play as Hilbert or Nate, Hilda or Rosa is your Battle Subway partner. It's the same thing that happens every single game. The names as NPCs are the official names. Xavier and Yvonne are just placeholder names, which they also use every game. The Japanese site just uses X and Y, respectively. Which aren't names at all. Ataro (talk) 17:52, 30 June 2013 (UTC)
They are still being referred to as Xavier and Yvonne. I think this is the first time where the default name and NPC name differ. That and the NPC versions aren't exactly the same as the default characters. Is it safe to keep them as Xavier and Yvonne as by now we would have seen Gamefreak change the names to Calem/Serena if those were the default names. XanderO (talk) 02:36, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
I'll assume this was meant to be here. No, that's not how it works. Xavier and Yvonne are nothing more than names that they use for promotional material. That's it. It happens every single game. If they were the canon names, then Ethan would be called "Heart" and Lyra would be called "Soul". Same goes for Nate being "Black2" and Rosa being "White2". Even if the NPCs thing has been revealed, they aren't going to stop using the names they were using earlier. If you must know, it basically works like this. You, the player, can name your character whatever you want. However, the character you didn't pick appears in the game with a preset name. This is how the naming for player characters work and it's not different here. In summation, Xavier and Yvonne are not the names. Ataro (talk) 03:25, 15 July 2013 (UTC)
The new gameplay demon also has the Player character as Xavier even though his female rival is Serena. - unsigned comment from Clark Griswald (talkcontribs)
I wanted to post that too. The Demo still shows a difference between the two character name sets. The PC's names are Xavier and Yvonne while the NPC versions are called Calem and Serena. I think this shows that the Default names for the PC and the names for your look alike rivals are different as they are supposedly different characters in the game. When the real names were shown in the past they stopped using the filler names and showed the revealed names on the characters, while X and Y are continuing with two different sets of names. XanderO (talk) 18:53, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Whether or not they're continuing with two sets of names, Bulbapedia's policy has always been that player character articles are named based on what the character is named when they appear as an NPC. Since the games aren't out yet, I think it's absurd to argue over what name to use until then, since literally nobody can be right because the games aren't out yet. Just wanted to say that while the American demo has the player character's names as "Xavier" and "Yvonne," the Japanese demo has the player's names as "エックス" (X/ekkusu) and "ワイ" (Y/wai). Which means that this argument with the name demo is arguing that Nate and Rosa's official names are Black2 and White2. The Japanese equivalents of Xavier and Yvonne are X and Y, and there's no reason to believe that those are the player character's "official" names any more than Ethan is named Soul and Lyra is named Heart. Friends

Serena is also one of the friends he meets in Vaniville, not only Tierno, Shauna and Trevor. |) u |( e ® 03:11, 1 July 2013 (UTC)

Korean name for Calem

His Korean name is 칼름 Kalleum.

  • Basically the transliteration of "Calem". -- Nick15 (talk) 23:23, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

Eye color is grey, not brown.

Calem's eye color is listed as brown. However, I'm sure he has grey eyes. By the way, someone else also noted this on Serena's Talk Page. Could anyone change it? Nickvang (talk) 19:25, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Pokémon-Amie artwork

Pokémon-Amie artwork.png

This is another artwork for Calem, but the page is protected. Same with Serena. PaulMacciatto (talk) 06:45, 15 August 2013 (UTC)

Not every image that contains Calem needs to be on his page. This is artwork of Pokémon-Amie, so it belongs on that page. --SnorlaxMonster 10:40, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Image

Someone should probably put the main image size to something like 120px so it's a little smaller ----samm :D 10:24, 18 August 2013 (UTC)

Xavier

Why isn't Xavier the official name I mean the Official Website did use the name Xavier instead of Calem. --Cococrash11 (talk) 01:43, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

This was already discussed a couple paragraphs ago. The player can name him anything he wants. We go by the NPC name. And since the game was released, people have named him things other than Xavier. The anime had even named his female counterpart Serena, not Yvonne. I know the anime is a different canon to the games, but it is the most popular besides the games. Anyway, if we went by default names, Brenden would be Sean. SeanWheeler (talk) 23:01, 8 November 2013 (UTC)
To put it simply, the official name is Calem because that's what the character will always be named if you choose to play as the female character. Likewise, if you choose to play as the male character, the female character will appear and always be called Serena. Those are the names the game itself gives them. - Taylor (talk) 00:20, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Rematch Vaporeon

When I battled against it, it never used Muddy Water once. It only used Hydro Pump, Aurora Beam and Quick Attack before it ran out of PP and had to use Struggle. Can anyone provide a source as to where it uses Muddy Water? Gywall Talk 17:29, 8 November 2013 (UTC)

Trivia

Um, can you add this to trivia?

  • Despite being shown using a Fletchling to catch a Bunnelby, neither Pokemon is seen afterwards.
    • Fletchling is used in the tag battle against Tierno and Trevor.

Nutter Butter (talk) 03:52, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

There's no rule stating you have to use every Pokemon you catch. They could've been released or dumped in the PC. Ataro (talk) 04:04, 22 November 2013 (UTC)
Exactly. In fact the maximum amount of Pokémon you carry is six and you have a goal to catch every Pokémon in the game. If you weren't allowed to store them in the PC, Pokédex completion would be impossible, unless the party capacity was changed to all 718 which can make ridiculously long battles that literally take forever. SeanWheeler (talk) 23:48, 22 November 2013 (UTC)

Grand Duke

Should it be noted somewhere on here that Calem as the player character is the only person capable of being a member the Grand Duke trainer class? Since he/you are the only one that can get the title, it's not really a trainer class but I thought it should at least be mentioned somewhere. Glik (talk) 01:45, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

The female equivalent of Grand Duke is Grand Duchess which Diantha and Serena (if the player choose her) can be. So we shouldn't put that. AwesomeGrovyle (talk) 02:24, 27 December 2013 (UTC)

What does the female equivalent have to do with noting the title on here? Grand Duchess is actually a trainer class but Grand Duke is only really a title. Glik (talk) 17:25, 28 December 2013 (UTC)
