Black Plus in Generation VII

So I just wanted to see how everyone wanted to proceed with this page now that Sun and Moon have come out. Generation VII has an equivalent in the form of the Black Plus mark. Should a new page be made? Should we rename this page and have them both listed on this page? Just wanted to see people's opinions. --HoennMaster 06:49, 18 December 2016 (UTC)

I think there's probably not enough material for two separate articles, so ideally we would find a suitable title that would cover both. As a side note, according to the VGC format rules, the new mark is called the black clover, not black plus. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 06:53, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
In addition to the rules document, this article call it the "Alola symbol"; however, I think the official rules document (which would be proofread a lot, or one would hope despite the most recent one saying Zygarde is legal briefly) has more weight than a single Pokémon.com article (which probably has less oversight).
I think having separate pages would result in a lot of duplicated content, since they aren't that different. I think we could make a combined page with the conjectural title "Regional symbol", based on the alternative name for the "black clover". --SnorlaxMonster 13:46, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
I am definitely in agreement on just having one page. Just didn't want to go and start adding stuff since I didn't know what the title should be and didn't know if anyone had a page in their userspace for it. --HoennMaster 20:41, 18 December 2016 (UTC)
So now we have a potential monkey wrench. It's been revealed that Pokémon transferred from the Generation I VC games will have a Game Boy symbol on their status screen. Regional symbol wouldn't really describe that. --HoennMaster 00:43, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
Something like "origin symbol" seems reasonable. Tiddlywinks (talk) 00:54, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
Might I suggest something along the lines of "generation symbol" or "generation mark"? Because unless I'm misunderstanding, it is entirely related to the generation of the game it was caught in, not the region--both the Kalos and Hoenn gen VI games get the blue pentagon. --Felthry (talk) 01:13, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
There appears to be a GO symbol as well. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:18, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
I agree that it should be moved - the article seems very focused on the Blue Pentagon instead of all five icons, even excluding the title. "Origin symbol" sounds good to me. --Celadonkey 17:43, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

(resetting indent)I can additionally confirm that the pentagon is not, in fact, blue when transferred to Gen VII, so there's further reason to move it. --Felthry (talk) 18:32, 25 January 2017 (UTC)

Official name (for new page) found!

The official name for the symbols mentioned in the article is "Origin marking". Therefore, when this article is moved and/or remade, use this as the title, and refer to these symbols as such in the content of the article.

If you have Pokémon Bank and want to verify this:

  • Open Pokémon Bank.
  • Select "Use Pokémon Bank".
  • Open the Menu with the Y button.
  • Select "List".
  • Scroll to the right until your horizontal cursor is on "Marking".

You will see the option to "Find Pokémon by origin marking" on the Touch Screen. Select this option to verify that it indeed refers to the pentagon, clover, and Game Boy symbols. Haddady ~Straight Outta the Bag~ (Talk to me!) 20:48, 21 February 2017 (UTC)

Then that should be the page to move it to. --Celadonkey 21:36, 21 February 2017 (UTC)
Excellent. In that case, lets move this page to that title. --SnorlaxMonster 05:23, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
I'm unfamiliar with the proper procedure for moving pages, and don't know where to find that information on this site. Should we rework the page before moving, or move the page first? --Haddady ~Straight Outta the Bag~ (Talk to me!) 06:06, 22 February 2017 (UTC)
