The In training section of Ash's Pokémon says that "Some can be called upon at any time if needed.". Some means at least two, but not all of them, right? Ash currently has ownership of 68 Pokémon, including all 30 of his Tauros. Including pre-evolutions, traded, released and given away Pokémon (and not including the additional Tauros), in total, Ash has currently officially owned a total of 78 different Pokémon species. Of those Pokémon,
' 5 of them are non-evolutionary Pokémon. 15 of them belong to a two-stage evolutionary families, with Ash obtaining 6 of them in their fully evolved form, whilst raising 4 of them to their final form. Finally, 25 of his Pokémon come from three-stage evolutionary families, with Ash obtaining all, but 4 (1 in its final form, and 3 in their second form, 2 of whom evolved into their final form), in their first form. Of the remaining 21, Ash has evolved 4 of them into their second stage, and 10 into their fully evolved form."

:The page is basically mentioning how many different Pokemon Ash owns and how many different species of Pokemon he owns. For instance, the amount of Pokemon he officially owns is 68 and previous evolutions don't count. For example, Ash's Froakie and Frogadier are counted as one, because they're technically the same Pokemon, as Froakie evolved into a Frogadier. The second list is all of the different kinds of Pokemon he owns. So for this list, the previous evolutions are included. So these Pokemon include, Pikachu, Froakie, Frogadier, Noibat, Tauros, Muk, Krabby, Kingler, Treecko, etc. The other information was just specific information on each of the captures that he has. Like how many Pokemon don't have any pre-evolutions or evolutions, how many he has captured that have already evolved and how many are apart of a two-stage evolutionary line. But those other bits of information have been deleted. Do you understand now? Playerking95 (talk) 06:52, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Talk: Ash Ketchum Trivia
In the Trivia for Ash Ketchum, the first sentence about Ash's Gym battle rematches listed below is "incorrect" and makes no sense at all.
INCORRECT: "Ash has lost at least one Gym battle in every region."
He lost to Brock, Lt. Surge, Sabrina and Blaine in Kanto, Whitney in Johto, Brawly in Hoenn, Roark in Sinnoh, Lenora in Unova, and Viola in Kalos.
This is incorrect because Ash had "four" rematches in Kanto, not one. He had a rematch against (1) Brock, (2) Lt. Surge, (3) Sabrina and (4) Blaine.
In Hoenn, he had a rematch with (1) Brawly and (2) Norman.
In Sinnoh, he had a rematch with (1) Roark and (2) Fatina.
The other regions, however, are correct.
Can you please fix this mistake and word it differently? If not, I would consider omitting it.
Christian (talk) 04:18, 21 November 2015 (UTC)
: 'ATLEAST' means a minimum rematch at one gym in every region, which makes your point invalid <I><span style="color:red">Pr</span><span style="color:blue">at</span><span style="color:green">ik_12</span></I>   <span style="color:violet">Talk</span>

You made your point about Norman and Fantina, but Ash had lost "more than one Gym battle in Kanto."
CORRECT: "Ash has lost at least one Gym battle in every region, except for Kanto (He lost against five gym leaders in Kanto: Brock, Lt. Surge, Sabrina, Erika and Blaine). He had a rematch against (1) Brock, (2) Lt. Surge, (3) Sabrina and (4) Blaine. He did not have a rematch against Erika. She gave him the Rainbow badge for rescuing Gloom from the fire."

I know there have been a lot of discussion about weather legendary Pokémon should be added here but theses 3 dragons that appeared in the latest movie are a different case. We've always determined any Pokémon Ash has given a command to as qualifying for the Temporary section. He commanded these three to do specific moves several times and even formulated complicated strategies. In fact he even commented on it being a "battle". :First: you already started a section for this exact same issue almost right above this. Please do not create new sections when there is no need.
:Second: you say that "Ash has lost at least one Gym battle in every region" is not correct. Then you also say that "He lost against five gym leaders in Kanto" is correct. If Ash lost to five Gym Leaders, he also lost to at least one Gym Leader.
:I mean no offense, but it seems your grasp of English is lacking in this area. Please trust mine as well as Upratik_12 and Playerking95's word when we tell you: the wording that you say is incorrect is not. Please do not change the trivia again. If you want to continue to discuss it to attempt to understand your mistake, you may do so here; just, again, do not change that piece of trivia. Thank you. == Changing unofficial heading to befriended heading in the title Pokemon ==
I think it would be better to change the unofficial heading in the title Pokemon to Befriended. What do you think? PokemonCool (talk) 17:09, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
:I think "unofficial" is more descriptive because for the episodes Haunter and Larvitar were with Ash, they were essentially his Pokémon and he treated them as such but he never actually caught them. Ash has befriended lots of Pokémon besides just Haunter and Larvitar. <span style="color:#858585;">AGG</span><span style="color:#858585;">RON</span><span style="color:#444444;">989</span> 18:06, 23 January 2016 (UTC)
But then we should add all the pokemon he befriended along with haunter and larvitar. PokemonCool (talk) 13:38, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
:Some of the Pokémon he's befriended are already under the "temporary" section. Haunter and Larvitar are special because for a time, they were unofficially a part of Ash's team. All of the other Pokémon he befriended were for the most part one-time appearances that had no lasting impact on Ash's journey. ::Aggron is correct, Haunter and Larvitar were different cases from Ash simply using/borrowing a Pokémon for a battle or two, or for an event such as the Pokémon race he borrowed Ponyta/Rapidash for. While Ash does borrow friends' Pokémon occasionally and might already have a bond with them, they don't count as part of his actual team lineup. :Yes he did. But it shouldn't be mentioned in the infobox as he has also entered several Pokémon Contests as a Pokémon Coordinator, the Hearthome Collection as a Pokémon Stylist, and the Camellia Pokéathlon as a Pokéathlete (although I'm not sure the term was used in the anime). == Temporary and Unofficial ==
I know there is already a discussion about this, but couldn't Raticate be in the "Temporary" section. I also think Beedrill should be in the "Temporary" section. On James' page the Victreebel that evolved from the Weepinbell that was traded for his other Victreebel was on the "Temporary Pokemon owned by Team Rocket" page.
And also the "Unofficial" section with Larvitar and Haunter is bugging me. Can we put like "Befriended" or something? Dictionary
:The distinctions between Pokémon traded away, given away, unofficially owned, and temporarily used are made quite clear on Ash's page. Raticate was actually owned by Ash for a time before he traded it away. Beedrill was also actually owned by Ash for a time before he gave it to Casey. In both cases, Ash actually owned the Pokémon; they do not belong in the temporary section because that is for Pokémon that Ash never officially owned, but instead just used for a short period of time. The case with Pokémon temporarily owned by Team Rocket is that Victreebel was, like the page's title indicates, owned by James temporarily. And no, Larvitar and Haunter will remain under the "Unofficial" section because they were, well, unofficially owned by Ash. Befriended is way too vague of a term, because Ash befriended much more Pokémon than just Larvitar and Haunter. --<span style="color:#95EB5C">Carmen<small>★</small></span> <small><span style="color:#FEBEE8">(Talk |</span> <span style="color:#A6DAFC">contribs)</span></small> 02:15, 24 April 2016 (UTC)

Border

I've brought this up before about the horrid border coloration, but it has still stayed in place. I have an idea, in that we could colour it white and blue, like his clothing. It would look so much nicer. Torngentleman2 10:03, 20 February 2011 (UTC)

That would probably be good. Why the box colors are those of Pikachu is quite puzzling. --jda95 10:06, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
I think they are the colors of the Red and Yellow games; because Ash is based on Red and Yellow was based on the anime.
PS: Torngentleman2, you are not allowed to have images in your signature. --ケンジガール 10:12, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Now that I'm looking at it, that would look much nicer. --Nathan2055talk 15:58, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
Thoughts? I personally like example 2. --ケンジガール 23:45, 20 February 2011 (UTC)
I love Example 3. --HoennMaster 00:39, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Now for me it's a close call between number 2 & number 4, I think the yellow is good to have, honestly though, I like them all more than the current colours Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 01:01, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
Example 2 and 4 are my choices. I don't care which one as long as there is some yellow in there. It's not that important that we change the colors, but I do agree that the current borders are a bad combination of colors.--Alex726(TALK) 02:42, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I too felt there should be yellow in there. Having white and blue only sort of implies he's a Water and Normal-type Trainer to me... Which is why I still like 2. --ケンジガール 04:25, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I definately think Example 2 is better than Example 4, but my personal favourite is Example 1, as Pikachu is in the image, so he's not unrepresented. Torngentleman2 16:52, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I've thought long and hard, I have decided I like the yellow on example 2 best Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 22:00, 21 February 2011 (UTC)
I think this looks better if you replace the "normal" with "white"--Burgundy 23:47, 21 February 2011 (UTC)

Talk page note

I don't think we need the "ALL CAPS" note on the top of this page. Wouldn't it be better leaving it as a hidden note or in some other format, as it doesn't seem to come up very often in the archives?--Tim Thomason 19:07, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

We do. It comes up all the time but a lot of the edits get reverted. Check the history. --ZestyCactus 19:13, 28 February 2011 (UTC)

'As of BW001'

I think we should get rid of that note next to his age. If he hasn't aged over all that time, he's never going to reach 11. So I think we should just list his age as 10 and nothing but, so it looks neater. Torngentleman2 14:44, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

Well, there have been two times on where it was implied that Ash was 11, one was in EP063 (albeit being only present in the dub versions), and the special on where they celebrate the first anniversary since Ash and Pikachu first met, if I remembered which one it was, I'd link it. But yeah, the series have implied (whether on dub or not) that time has passed whether it actually happened or not. I guess that's why it's been pointed out. Masatoshitalk 15:12, 12 March 2011 (UTC)

I'm going to say this again. Do not turn this into an age discussion. That's not what this was about. Violators will be dealt with. --ケンジガール 00:01, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

Manga

We most add that his counterpart in the pokemon adventures manga red is. Both have fight there rival in the final of the pokemon league and win. Both have a Pikachu. We most edit this.--Nazirbashir 08:11, 5 May 2011 (UTC)

Just out of sheer curiosity...

Why was so much Trivia removed? I mean, that was a LOT of trivia, and I could see the reason for most of it being removed (out of date, etc.) but there is some of it that is still valid right (like the stuff about how he constructs his teams)? Just one person's opinion, and I am not staff or anything, so feel free to ignore or whatever, but I was just curious. --ジェダイの騎士デジタルテレビ 23:11, 19 May 2011 (UTC)

I think it was tooooo long, so someone shorten it so the page would load all right. That's just my guess. Truthseeker4449 19:05, 24 July 2011 (UTC)

Oversized page

I got a message on the edit page saying that it reached the limit of over 32kb and needs to be broken into smaller sections. PattyMan 22:16, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

A lot of big pages say that. I don't believe it's a concern. Jellotalk 22:17, 2 June 2011 (UTC)

Rotation

Come on, why is Pikachu in rotation too? -Billy4b2004 06:57, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

And we still have complaints? Geesh. Why are Snivy, Tepig, Oshawott, and Scraggy there despite never leaving Ash's team? These are the pokémon he is using in Unova, so they are all in one section. --HoennMaster 15:25, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Archeops

The Archeops from BW040 could potentially go in Ash's 'temporary' section, but I don't know whether or not it would be classed as being trained by Ash, or at least Ash in particular. What do you guys think? Torngentleman2 19:48, 18 June 2011 (UTC)

Wait for the episode to air so we fully know the circumstances. —darklordtrom 23:47, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
The episode has airred, this user ment to say BW036, that's the Archeops he is reffering to Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 23:51, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
I think it's a bit different. With Cottonee, he actually trained it, and used it to battle against Iris and Cilan. Archen he only helped teach to fly, and he wasn't the only one. He was just the only one with a flying type (who would listen). But he never actually commanded it. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 23:55, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
Agreed, if we counted this we'd have to add Swablu as well Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 23:58, 18 June 2011 (UTC)
I guess that sums up my confusion at why Archeops wasn't on the episode list :D —darklordtrom 00:10, 19 June 2011 (UTC)
Thing is, while only once or twice, Ash did tell her what to do. Ash never commanded a move, but he did ask her do do things like fly towards Ash, or to jump. Torngentleman2 13:59, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

Reshiram/Zekrom

If we are counting Reshiram/Zekrom as under Dread's ownership, then shouldn't we do the same for Ash? Diamond Lanturn CodeName: 05308 20:41, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

I haven't seen the movie. But movie characters =/= main characters. They are permitted to have Pokémon like that because that will be their only full appearance. Both Sam and Ash befriended Celebi equally yet Sam is the only one who has Celebi on his page. And since I didn't see the movie, I have no idea if Ash had as much influence over Reshiram/Zekrom as Dread Grangil did.
Unless Ash specifically gave Reshiram/Zekrom commands, then they're just like all of the other legendaries he's befriended and worked with. Ash has to have some sort of dominance over them and/or having an extremely close relationship like May and Manaphy rather than just going along for the ride. --ケンジガール 01:50, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

Party

If some Pokémon Don't leave Ash, Why are they in rotation, Can't we just have With Ash and With Juniper and Keep updating it. ReaNintendo 20:42, 26 July 2011 (UTC)

We already had a HUGE debate over this. We can never be certain who Ash rotates as seen in BW036 were he had the usually "rotatee", Tranquill, and Roggenrola at the same time. Meaning he had to send either Snivy, Tepig, or Scraggy (not Oshawott because he was there too). A lot of times they don't reveal who Ash sent back when he withdrew another. Hi. um. Shouldn't Gliscor should be in the section with Charizard and Squirtle instead of the "Status Unknown". I mean, Ash left Gliscor with the Air Battle Master and then he recalled Gliscor back for the Sinnoh League. And if Gliscor is not in Pf. Oak's lab, Gliscor should be back with the Air Battle Master.- unsigned comment from Mr. RPG (talkcontribs)

Everyone is being needlessly picky and saying that we don't have confirmation that Gliscor went back into training. I argued on Talk:Ash's Gliscor that on one of Charizard's reappearances it was not confirmed that it went back to the Valley until it appeared next, yet that appears not to be a problem. Nothing suggests that Torterra or any of the others were sent back to Oak's lab - it was presumed. Why shouldn't Gliscor be presumed as well? I support moving Gliscor but unfortunately I have so far ben ignored. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 01:31, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
You cannot compare what happens with Ash's party after he completes a journey to Gliscor. We know that they went to Oak's because that's what he always does.
Maybe he decided to keep Gliscor after it returned from McCann because its training was complete. Not like it had some special duty like Primeape, Squirtle, and Charizard. We can't assume things with Pokémon that are in training. So it's best to just say that its whereabouts are currently unknown (which means it's either with McCann or Oak). --ケンジガール 03:46, 30 August 2011 (UTC)
Not to mention Charizard always returns to the Charicific Valley, it's common knowledge. Even if it wasn't shown once, it's obvious that is where is goes. --HoennMaster 15:34, 30 August 2011 (UTC)

should this be there?

Should raticate be in the traded away section? He never even used it.--Supermon 18:18, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

Are you seriously suggesting that the classification for "owned Pokémon" should be whether or not they participated in a battle? He owned Raticate, and then he traded it away for Butterfree. Very simple. LimeGreenCharizard 20:31, 16 November 2011 (UTC)

How do we

how do we know that ash has thirty tauros? Did the show say so or did someone count or something?--Supermon 23:55, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

He captures thirty of them in EP035. It's an episode not shown in the dub due to excessive gun use by the Safari warden, though the Tauros make several other appearances and i think it's mentiones elsewhere that he specifically has 30. --ZestyCactus 23:58, 5 December 2011 (UTC)

Pikachu in Rotation?

OK, I know there has already been a big dispute over stuff like this, but I don't think it makes sense to say Pikachu is in rotation. Pikachu is ALWAYS with Ash in every episode, and Ash would need to transfer Pikachu via a Poké Ball, which Pikachu has not been in since the 1st episode. I think we can safely say that Pikachu is "on hand." サトシ 23:03, 27 December 2011 (UTC) (User:Satoshi101)

Pikachu was not on hand during the battle against Elesa, apparently. And the his pokeball have appeared in several episodes of the original series, including the Brock's debut.--Hikaru Wazana 23:11- 27 December 2011
No, Pikachu is on hand in Elsa's battle, it just sits out. And Pikachu's Pokéball only appeared in Pokemon-I Choose You!, The Chikorita Rescue, and Snow Way Out!. I don't know where you got your info but it's incorrect. サトシ 23:20, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
Ash calls Pikachu back during the battle against Brock, this is a classic scene of the episode. And you even contradicts himself when says that it is not seen since the first episode, but cites other two.--Hikaru Wazana 23:28- 27 December 2011
He tries to, but he isn't successful. And if he did, that would mean Pikachu's still on hand. You really need to get your facts straight. サトシ 23:41, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
He's there because it's a little silly just to create a special little section for just Pikachu while everyone else is in rotation. We are aware that he would never take Pikachu off of his team. It's just to avoid having to update it every week and making unneeded sections. And in rotation doesn't mean were trying to say he's going to send Pikachu to where ever. He was also never shown to have send Oshawott (among a few others) back either. --ケンジガール 03:53, 28 December 2011 (UTC)

TRIVIA-MUST READ

I have a trivia piece: Starting from the Advanced Generation series, a pattern has started. Ash has caught one starter in Hoenn, two in Sinnoh and all three again in Unova . It was taken off by a user named Ataro or something and I undid it ( sorry if you were an admin ) can someone tell me why? --Skarm (tAlk) 03:37, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

The edit summary said it was not really needed so that's why it was undone I'd imagine. --Pokemaster97 03:41, 5 January 2012 (UTC)

Another Trivia piece if you don't mind......

Every time Ash battles and defeats a rival, he constantly loses to the next one in league tournaments, usually because his opponents are older, more experienced trainers with Pokémon that Ash has never seen or battled before.

Other than the Orange League, Ash has never won a league tournament.

Ash seems to catch less Pokémon when he is traveling with a new trainer. While traveling with May he caught 6 Pokémon, and while traveling with Dawn he caught 5 and obtained Buizel by trading with Dawn. While traveling with Misty he caught 18 Pokémon not counting Pikachu which he obtained by Professor Oak, and so far while traveling with Cilan and Iris he has caught 7 Pokémon and hatched Scraggy from an egg.

Clinton_Jai 14:23, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

Not really notable to be honest. AquaMaster 14:26, 6 January 2012 (UTC)

3, 3, 1, 2, 3 isn't much of a pattern. Toon Ganondorf (t c) 22:08, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
18, 6, 5, 7 isn't much of a pattern either. None of the pieces of trivia suggested here seem to be notable in my opinion.--Alex726(TALK) 23:42, 6 January 2012 (UTC)
That piece of trivia looks very opinionated even if it happens. Secondly, it was copied off from the Pokémon wikia. PattyMan 00:16, 7 January 2012 (UTC)

Climbing

In several episodes and movies it is shown that ash is a really good climber (in Pokemon4ever Misty and Brock comment that he "Climbs like a mankey." He's also been reffered to as a Primeape and an Aipom. Even in one of the first episodes of BW he climbs up a tree with little difficulty compared to Iris trying to catch up to Team Rocket to get Pikachu and Axew. Shouldnt we add this somewhere in the article? LuigiLuvr 00:47, 8 January 2012 (UTC)LuigiLover

I remember him being a good climber too. I agree. It should be included in Ash's article.--Alex726(TALK) 18:30, 8 January 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for agreeing, I'm not sure of all the exact episodes and movies it was mentioned in. But I can find it out on [1] but it might take a while -.-'LuigiLuvr 01:23, 9 January 2012 (UTC)LuigiLuvr

Ah, I can help out with this. In the season 4 episode, "The Screen Actor's Guilt", Ash tells everyone that, when he was little, he climbed a lot of trees (I can't remember the exact line, you'll have to watch the episode to find out exactly what Ash says). And then, after saying this, he proceeds to climb a tree. Later in season 5, "Hatching A Plan", Ash climbs a tree to rescue Pikachu and Phanpy. =) --PokemonTrainerLisa 13:16, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks!! I'll check those episodes and I'll read the descriptions on some others to see if they mention it. LuigiLuvr 16:39, June 1 2012 I added the it but only used 5 examples. I though that was better then adding all of them but if you decide they're are some more main ones feel free to add! LuigiLuvr 17:41, June 1 2012

Current badge picture

So, I'm on the page and I'm looking through the page and see Ash has his 8th Unova gym badge. I want to see it up close and click on the picture to view it bigger. When I do this, it takes me to a picture of him with Pikachu, Brycen and Krokorok of him obtaining his 7th badge. But then I click on the picture to view it just by itself and it takes me to the picture of him and Pikachu holding up the 8th badge. Any particular reason it still shows Brycen giving him the 7th badge and not the picture of him with all 8? If so, how do we go about fixing the page? Just a heads up. --Dylki 22:21, 14 June 2012 (UTC)

Maturity

Can we have something about how in D/P he's super skilled, and in Black and White he's totally immature, and inexperienced? -- Pringles 23:40, 19 June 2012 (UTC)

It seems that he isn't (he chucks a Poké Ball at a Pidove right off the bat, and does a ton of other stupid stuff). -- Pringles 00:09, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
He gets like that in almost every region. They turn Ash into an idiot to reflect the in-game thing of always starting a new adventure and having weak Pokémon etc. People might think it's foolish, but at the same time, the creators imagine the viewers are always a new generation of children, who don't know that you have to weaken a Pokémon first to catch it. So they hinder Ash's experience and intelligence to teach new viewers. Jo the Marten ಠ_ಠ 00:11, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
At the beginning of Diamond and Pearl he didn't seems stupid to me. -- Pringles 00:17, 20 June 2012 (UTC)
The anime has a Trainr experience tier and whoever is the lowest has to be portrayed as the rookie. In both Advance and DP, Ash had friends that were less experienced than he was thus the part of the inexperienced rookie was taken off of him. But because Iris and Cilan have been Trainers longer than he has (in anime time) he's the one that needs to be portrayed as the rookie. But yeah, this isn't really something that needs to be mentioned. --ケンジガール 04:07, 20 June 2012 (UTC)

Pokemon Team Rotation

It says "In the Unova region, Ash does not keep the same party at all times like he had done previously. Instead, he swaps his on hand Pokémon (with the exception of Pikachu) with ones that are being stored at Professor Juniper's lab, much like he did with his Kingler and Muk in Kanto with Professor Oak.", but this is incorrect. He's never had Kingler on his team. It went directly to Professor Oak and has only been used in league competitions. Muk was sent to Professor Oak because of its strong smell and, again, has only been used in Pokemon league competition. Someone should change this. User:MattySadler

About Ash's international name

In the table of Names section, it says that Ash's name in Mandarin Chinese "can mean 'young wisdom' or 'little knowledge'". I'm from mainland China and I can tell that this is not correct.

In China, the character "小" before another character as a nickname is used when referring to a person younger than the speaker, especially a child or teenager. The character right after it is often a character from his/her given name. For instance, a boy called "王明" can be referred as "小明", or a girl called "李芬芳" can be called "小芳" as a nickname. You may read this for more information about Chinese names.

Thus, "小智" in this case follows the same rule, that it can be considered only as "little Zhì (this must be transliterated as it derives from Satoshi Tajiri)" but not "young wisdom" or "little knowledge". I therefore ask for a correction about this. Prcuvu (talk) 14:10, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

color=X color light |
corecolor=ice color light |
bordercolor=HP color light |

I wanted to get input here before I make this change to such a big page. - Chosen of Mana 15:23, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Kayzie Rogers

I know that Kayzie Rogers did voice ash in The Mastermind of Mirage Pokemon. I'm just trying to understand why she's not Important for the infobox. But it's ok now, I just talked this over with Pinpkinking0192 and he told me why. So now I understand. Marioiscool765 (talk) 01:09, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Trainer ID

So, similar to how we do for N, could it be noted in the trivia section that Ash has the trainer ID of 01301 because of the distributed Pikachu? Or id this considered a different case as Ash really isn't a game character? Schiffy (瀬藤健二) (Talk Contribs) 17:42,2/21/2014 (UTC)

There have been two Pikachu distributions with Ash's name, as well as a distribution for Scraggy. All use different IDs. If anything, I'd say Ash's "ID" is too inconsistent to be considered trivia. - Chosen of Mana 20:23, 21 February 2014 (UTC)

Temporary Pokemon

In the EP190 "The Stolen Stones!" , Ash ride an Arcanine he doesn't own several minutes, so why not add this Arcanine to this section ? - unsigned comment from LeoKetchumB (talkcontribs)

Aura capabilities

I think people greatly overestimate what Ash can do. The only time he has actually used Aura was in the movie and that looked to me like he could do so only because he wore the guardian's gloves at the time. In the other very handful anime instances, I thought the Pokemon of which auras he felt were making him feel it, he didn't sense it by himself, it was their doing. Not sure if the original Japanese dub says something different, but Ash is hardly an aura user in my opinion. I disagree with the statement on this page aura that he is a true user. --Elveonora (talk) 22:19, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

I disagree. There's a difference between having mastered Aura Abilities and being a true Aura User. Ash is a true Aura User. The anime special even capitalized on this with the canon connection, therefore establishing his Aura Abilities. Ash has no form of training at all with Aura, but the movie and special did an amazing job at proving Ash has Aura Powers and the potential to be a skilled Aura Wielder if he trained. As for the pkmn he sensed, Riolu, he pretty much did it on his own a few times. -AuraGuardian- (talk) 07:46, 29 December 2014 (UTC)

Trainer Class

Should Baron be added to Ash's Trainer Class? Ash reached Baron status at the Battle Chateau and other trainers such as Viola, Grant and the others have their (at least in game) titles under their trainer class. Yamitora1 (talk) 17:29, 8 June 2014 (UTC)

XY 029

In Pokemon XY Episode 29, There is a new opening. In the opening, it shows Ash, sitting on a cliff, looking at the stars, possibly contemplating to attempt suicide because he can't take this immortality anymore [lol]. But on a serious note, In addition to Pikachu and Froakie, it seems ash's Fletchling evolved, as well as there being a Hawlucha.

Would this mean Ash now has 4 Pokemon on hand? and shouldn't it be added to his page, if not to trivia/additional details? - unsigned comment from AJDOH (talkcontribs)

Ash's Charizard

Hey just created this account to point out that Ash's Charizard should be in the "in training" section instead of the "with Professor Oak". Unless I'm wrong, Charizard is still in the Charicific Valley training, not at Professor Oak's farm.

Calling him not smart?

I noticed this somewhere in the information listed under Character. While I realize that Ash may not make the smartest choices, it seems unnecessary to say "he may not be truly called smart" then jump into a a paragraph about his physical attributes. It's already been stated his intelligence is on the battlefield. Ray01Geogeass (talk) 16:07, 6 May 2015 (UTC)

Noibat's egg

Does Noibat's egg count as being under Ash's ownership? Yeah, he helped it to hatch but it wasn't registered to him like his past eggs were... no-one gifted it to him and it wasn't marked by a Poké Ball prior to hatching. Officially, Noibat didn't belong to him until he actually captured it. It's like how Mankey and Sandile don't count as Ash's Pokémon since he didn't catch it them until after they evolved. The In training section of Ash's Pokémon says that "Some can be called upon at any time if needed.". Some means at least two, but not all of them, right? ' 5 of them are non-evolutionary Pokémon. 15 of them belong to a two-stage evolutionary families, with Ash obtaining 6 of them in their fully evolved form, whilst raising 4 of them to their final form. Finally, 25 of his Pokémon come from three-stage evolutionary families, with Ash obtaining all, but 4 (1 in its final form, and 3 in their second form, 2 of whom evolved into their final form), in their first form. Of the remaining 21, Ash has evolved 4 of them into their second stage, and 10 into their fully evolved form." i dont understnsd this part can someon eexplain please --SilverioBOMB (talk) 20:12, 29 September 2015 (UTC)

ok sorry but can u explain each of the pokemon that was stated of evolution--SilverioBOMB (talk) 06:16, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

The page is basically mentioning how many different Pokemon Ash owns and how many different species of Pokemon he owns. Playerking95 (talk) 06:52, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

no sorry 15 of them belong to a two-stage evolutionary families? 25 of his Pokémon come from three-stage evolutionary families? --SilverioBOMB (talk) 07:41, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Talk: Ash Ketchum Trivia

In the Trivia for Ash Ketchum, the first sentence about Ash's Gym battle rematches listed below is "incorrect" and makes no sense at all.

INCORRECT: "Ash has lost at least one Gym battle in every region." He lost to Brock, Lt.

First: you already started a section for this exact same issue almost right above this. Please do not create new sections when there is no need.
Second: you say that "Ash has lost at least one Gym battle in every region" is not correct. Then you also say that "He lost against five gym leaders in Kanto" is correct. If Ash lost to five Gym Leaders, he also lost to at least one Gym Leader.
I mean no offense, but it seems your grasp of English is lacking in this area. Changing unofficial heading to befriended heading in the title Pokemon

I think it would be better to change the unofficial heading in the title Pokemon to Befriended. What do you think? PokemonCool (talk) 17:09, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

I think "unofficial" is more descriptive because for the episodes Haunter and Larvitar were with Ash, they were essentially his Pokémon and he treated them as such but he never actually caught them. Ash has befriended lots of Pokémon besides just Haunter and Larvitar. AGGRON989 18:06, 23 January 2016 (UTC)

But then we should add all the pokemon he befriended along with haunter and larvitar. PokemonCool (talk) 13:38, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

Some of the Pokémon he's befriended are already under the "temporary" section. Haunter and Larvitar are special because for a time, they were unofficially a part of Ash's team. All of the other Pokémon he befriended were for the most part one-time appearances that had no lasting impact on Ash's journey. AGGRON989 18:28, 24 January 2016 (UTC)
Aggron is correct, Haunter and Larvitar were different cases from Ash simply using/borrowing a Pokémon for a battle or two, or for an event such as the Pokémon race he borrowed Ponyta/Rapidash for. While Ash does borrow friends' Pokémon occasionally and might already have a bond with them, they don't count as part of his actual team lineup. R.A. Hunter Blade 18:55, 24 January 2016 (UTC)

The Trainer class parameter is for a Trainer's true occupation, if we list everything there it will become a mess. --Mikuri 02:24, 25 February 2016 (UTC)

Should we list of pokemon that Ash tried to catch?

It will be fun to know what pokemon he was trying to catch i forgot what were they?--SilverioBOMB (talk) 18:32, 6 March 2016 (UTC)

Ash borrow Sparky

He made Sparky team up with his Pikachu to use a double thunder shock attack in the Pokemon episode 82--SilverioBOMB (talk) 05:02, 10 March 2016 (UTC)

Temporary and Unofficial

I know there is already a discussion about this, but couldn't Raticate be in the "Temporary" section. I also think Beedrill should be in the "Temporary" section. On James' page the Victreebel that evolved from the Weepinbell that was traded for his other Victreebel was on the "Temporary Pokemon owned by Team Rocket" page.

And also the "Unofficial" section with Larvitar and Haunter is bugging me. Can we put like "Befriended" or something? - unsigned comment from Dictionary (talkcontribs)

The distinctions between Pokémon traded away, given away, unofficially owned, and temporarily used are made quite clear on Ash's page. --Carmen (Talk | contribs) 02:15, 24 April 2016 (UTC)
