Ash's?? Really? うずまきハルカ 17:36, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Nice one Paul! You gave Ash another starter! --Vladek

I was actually suprised with this one---i've seen covers with Brock having the Chimchar. oh well...Ash ftw!! =) --Thomas1652

I'm disappointed. Now Ash can't bring Cyndaquil back... TTEchidna 20:54, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Agreed. I guess there's still a chance for Totodile, but still. Zurqoxn 21:27, 7 October 2007 (UTC)
Well, Totodile offers some solace. Kinda sucks, though, that Cyndaquil, the one who got, like, zero development, compared to Totodile and Bayleef, gets screwed. TTEchidna 21:46, 7 October 2007 (UTC)

Ya! Paul releases (I seriously knew he was going to) Chimchar! and Ash catches it. Much like James' Cacnea --悪臭の人File:212MS.gif stinkoman20X6normal.PNG 19:59, 25 October 2007 (UTC)

I too, wish it was Cyndaquil that came back. Ah well, if we're lucky, Ash might Oak Chimchar and call for Cyndaquil. Movie 10 Chimchar?

I saw some pics of Movie 10 and there is a Chimchar blowing fire into a hot ari balloon. Is this Ash's Chimchar doing it? --File:Spr 3e 059.gifFile:Spr 3e 132.gifTheryguy512 File:Trozeiani025.gif 20:49, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

No. I think it was one of the movie character's Chimchar. File:Ani254MS.gifJmathTalkFile:Ani448MS.gif 20:50, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Had to have been. Paul didn't appear in that movie, and that's whom this Chimchar was with at the time. --Shiningpikablu252 21:07, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
But Jmath puts up a good point. It may have been the balloon owner's Chimchar. --File:Spr 3e 059.gifFile:Spr 3e 132.gifTheryguy512 File:Trozeiani025.gif 22:11, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Hmmmm

All of Ash's monkey-based Pokémon have had two trainers. Ash's Primeape and Anthony.. Dawn and Ash for Aipom... Paul and Ash for Chimchar.. I dunno. Thought I'd add this to the talk page before editing. 281Tinaδ281s 17:36, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

That's definitely Trivia-worthy if you ask me. --PAK Man Talk 19:40, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
Hmmm, I'm going to add it to Ash's page.. it makes more sense.. 281Tinaδ281s 19:46, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Just wondering has Ash done Anything with Chimchar yeat? Cerberus

I really don't think he's going to evolve

I really don't believe Chimmy is going to evolve in this next episode. I saw the preview on youtube, and it just looks like Paul drives him completely berserk. I could see the poor thing break down. Plus with the Aipom --> Ambipom thing, he glowed white and stuff showing that it the evolving was probably going to happen. This is probably just more character development for Chimmy. Toastypk 03:34, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

No possibility can be eliminated. --Shiningpikablu252 04:00, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
I dont think Chimchar will evolve either. In the preview for Movie Eleven Isnt Chimchar there? But if it isnt, maybe it will evolve. David

aipom Davidaipom 17:51, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

We know from the group shot that Gligar will evolve before the movie while Chimchar won't. So why is Chimchar the one to be protected? --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 18:00, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Given that the Gliscor is on the far right end of what we see in the group shot, and given the Gliscor's distance from Ash, it's not a foregone conclusion that it's Ash's. For all we know, Paul could be in the movie and that's his Gliscor. Or given how Shaymin has a role in the movie, that the movie might be Marley's anime appearance and that's her Gliscor. Or it could belong to a character of the day not covered in the group shot.
Additionally, that group shot could be from an early version of the movie and that there is no Gliscor and Swinub, and that Chimchar and Piplup will be evolved by the time the movie rolls around. Given that some shots do make it to full color before hitting the cutting room floor...--Shiningpikablu252 20:37, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
I am 99% sure that that is the "World of Pokémon" group shot, which isn't your standard disposable shot. There is not much reason to give it to us to begin with and they would definately make sure the team lineup would be finalised before doing so, especially given what we do get.
And there still isn't any evidence that Chimchar will evolve here anyway. From the preview, we can all see that it is character development concerning Paul. This certainly isn't an Aipom scenario. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 20:52, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

Chimchar is by far one of the most and hardest trained Pokemon Ash has in Sinnoh (besides from Pikachu), it may also want to show its ex-trainer, Paul, that it isn't a weakling because it has a kind a enjoyable nature.Kikibabygirl28 19:25, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

well it seems he wont evolve because someone else released monferno from the ball. also it seems ash gets raichu, and the grimer dawn has acts like ash's muk. - unsigned comment from Happizelpom (talkcontribs)

Those could just be rental Pokémon... Remember EP056? Why would they suddenly give Ash and Raichu and Dawn a Grimer? They wouldn't. They're probably rentals. --ケンジガール 02:12, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

sorry i meant to say that, when i said that i meant ash gets raichu as a rental and dawn gets grimer as a rental Happizelpom 04:42, 25 July 2008 (UTC)Happizelpom

See that link? It leads to a topic on the Serebii Forums that seems to insinuate that Chimchar will evolve. I'd suggest protecting the article to prevent any jumping of the gun, so to speak. I'm Missingno. Master, and I approve this message. 11:28, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

That Monferno is next to a Raichu which is next to a screenshot of Ash and Pikachu looking at the Raichu. Until we get anything indicating otherwise, the Monferno belongs to the school. (Grovyle got an episode before Treecko evolved too.) Please can we not go through the above protection again. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 12:52, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
The Monferno is battling against Raichu. Unfortunately, as soon as Bulbanews reports this, I'm afraid that Chimchar is going to have to be blocked. If everyone is going to train a Pokémon that belongs to the school though...it's hard to tell. Best to play it safe. But this is going to be a pain. : ( Aura-Knight 16:40, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Seems the rumor's already out, therefore, protection is best. TTEchidna 21:26, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
It's obviously not going to evolve. What's most likely going to happen is that Chimchar and Pikachu are going to have a double battle against their evolved forms. --ケンジガール 01:59, 16 July 2008 (UTC)
Where are these screens? They're gone from the serebii links. ~Toastypk - Loom. 07:00, 22 July 2008 (UTC)

I just saw the preview for the next ep and it looks like they are getting rental Pokémon. Also if anyone was to get Monferno it looks like it is in the ownership of that boy Conway as he is seen releasing it. Big Johnno 16:36, 25 July 2008 (UTC)

Minor favor

SP252, there's a type link near the two trainer links you just did that could be replaced with {{type2}}. Would you mind getting that? I can get it once the protection's lifted otherwise. --Martonimos((Argh|Blargh)) 01:27, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

DP088

Well, while I'm waiting for someone to upload either pictures or the video from 087, I noticed that Monferno will debut next Thurs. After that, if Chimchar hasn't evolved, can we lift the protection (or is this trailer for next week like Aipom or Gligar's evolution)? - unsigned comment from Aura-Knight (talkcontribs)

dude go and watch it on youtube - unsigned comment from Big Johnno (talkcontribs)

Chimchar doesn't evolve. From what I here, Monferno is being used by Conway. However it will remain protected from gun jumpers. --ケンジガール 18:28, 25 July 2008 (UTC)
Will Chimchar remain protected throughout the summer school arc or do you think it's safe after next week? (I made the previous comment early in the morning, and no one had put it on Youtube yet Johnno) Aura-Knight 00:21, 26 July 2008 (UTC)
The evolution rumors surround DP091, not DP088. Odds are the protection will last until then--for all we know, Conway could have a Monferno and Ash's Chimchar'll evolve anyway...--Shiningpikablu252 00:31, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Is it okay if we unprotect this?

I saw the preview for the next episode. Monferno was being used by a girl. Chimchar is definately not evolving. --ケンジガール 06:37, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

We should wait cause there are people who just say random things and just edit it--CoolPikachu! 06:39, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

This really dosent need to be protected it was being used by Conway ok? This page does not need to be protected Ash's Chimchar is not going to evolve in this episode.

I just said it was being used by a girl... --ケンジガール 07:16, 26 July 2008 (UTC)

Trivia

Those last two pieces of trivia are definatly not needed. Chimchar didn't debut in Rise of Darkrai, it debued in the first episode of Diamond and Pearl. The 'if chimchar evolves it will be Ash's third fighting type' is the worst piece of trivia ever. Its speculation and its not even important. It's not mentioned that chimchar is his fourth fire type, or that corphish was his fith etc. If we have this then we'd also need 'if turtwig evolved it would be Ashs third ground type'. We don't have that, so this is uneeded. Could an admin please delete these pieces of trivia? TheAlmightyChris 16:12, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

You don't need an admin, do it yourself... Dexington 17:03, 23 August 2008 (UTC)

A possible idea for an image

I found this image on Serebii.
DP305.jpg
I like it, and here's why I think it should be uploaded and included: Notice the flame on its tail. Doesn't it look bigger than usual? Could that possibly be a smaller version of Blaze? If so, I think it should be uploaded to the Archives and included in the article somewhere. Discuss. Chocolate 00:12, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Pics generally include both the trainer and the Pokémon, though that doesn't hold for all the Pokémon. In this image, Chimchar is about to use Flamethrower I think, and so it's not Blaze. What's wrong with the current image anyway? Aura-Knight 00:18, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Nothing's wrong with the current image. I just really like the one I suggested. Chocolate 00:22, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
Specifically, I like Chocolate's image, just wish it was of better quality~Ποκεμανιακα0β 00:24, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
I might be able to get a better quality version if I knew what episode it's from. Chocolate 00:26, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
What image are you attempting to replace exactly? I like the ones we have now. -Sketch 02:39, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
I don't want to replace any of them. I just want it to be put somewhere in the article. Chocolate 02:40, 4 November 2008 (UTC)
There are already four images. That's plenty. -Sketch 15:06, 4 November 2008 (UTC)

Protection

Should Chimchar be protected again until DP108? It may not seem too likely, but its possible it could evolve to beat Byron. - ElectricArbok 6:31, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

I feel that's speculation. There's no proof it's a possibility it will evolve. -Sketch 20:24, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Given how many times Chimchar evolving has been hinted at yet not panning out, odds are it may end up evolving without warning (and by warning, I mean without any hints). Yes, DP108 probably would be a good time for that to happen...--Shiningpikablu252 21:48, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
No one should be editing the article with speculation and if no one is we shouldn't protect because there is no reason anyone would jump on DP108. Gym battles always look problematic for Ash at first, summaries always pick up on that and Ash always finds a strategy that doesn't rely on a lucky evolution. I'm sure we'll see Monferno in action at the Ice Gym. --FabuVinny |Talk Page| 22:28, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Hopefully --ElectricArbok 16:01, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

Chimchar's picture

Why can't trade Chimchar's Picture for other more brought up to date? --Pokedigo 17:30, 6 Februery 2009 (UTC)

There's nothing wrong with that image. What do you mean by "Up to date"? Unless Chimchar evoles, it's up to date. -Sketch 19:33, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

everyone i think we should Protection Ash's Chimchar page again for DP116!

because everyone going about that again in DP116 preview.- unsigned comment from Lindsayoris15 (talkcontribs)

Uh....DP118 is PokéRinger episode. What does Chimchar have to do with that? -Sketch 20:55, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
She meant 116.--freezingCOLD (page, talk) 20:57, 19 February 2009 (UTC)
There's no reason to protect it. Chimchar may evolve, but there's no proof for sure. Aura-Knight 17:16, 22 February 2009 (UTC)

Movie Protection?

I don't know if we should protect it this early, I mean we didn't do it for Gligar did we? Or did we? I don't remember. July is a long time from now, five months, I suppose if/when Chimchar evolves admins could un protect it. And there's really no reason why it shouldn't be protected, so I don't know. Only if its necessary, in my opinion. When it becomes a problem. Or if there's actual Aipom/Turtwig proof.--Dman dustin 07:26, 28 February 2009 (UTC)

There's already a disclaimer asking people not to edit it. But it's likely Chimchar will evolve within the month. Aura-Knight 04:26, 1 March 2009 (UTC)
The new movie 12 poster shows a Monferno... and I'm not sure if I saw Chimchar...--X, PEACE TOTHE DRAGONS ANDTHE BEASTS 00:00, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
It also shows a Staraptor! ^0^ But anyway, I'd leave it until people start going ZOMG CHIMCHAR'S EVOLVING *massedit* ~ overgrownsol 00:02, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
The pages should be protected until we've got confirmation... like its always done... just to be safe.--X, PEACE TOTHE DRAGONS ANDTHE BEASTS 00:09, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Actually, it's better to have the page open for normal editing until the gun-jumping starts. If it doesn't then there was no need for it to have been protected, and if someone does gun-jump, then we had a concrete reason other than 'it might happen' The Dark Fiddler - Is teh Pedia laggin 4 u 2? 00:16, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Well... now that's a good reason, there's nobody editing anything much... plus, there's not much other info. Still, the admins should be ready... later from now, the pages would have to be protected if anything occurs... whether that bad massediting or more released info. But, you bring up a good point that those kinds of things I mentioned are not happening at the moment...--X, PEACE TOTHE DRAGONS ANDTHE BEASTS 00:28, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Ash's Monferno is protected from creation so don't worry so much. Once there are gun-jumping edits then we kill them. TTEchidna 01:32, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
Well we just had a minor gun-jumping skirmish... --Theryguy512 12:08, 6 March 2009 (UTC)
And also on Staraptor... --Theryguy512 12:12, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

"It will be unprotected when an upcoming episode airs on the date of the episode." As awesome and funny that sentence is and I wish we'd do that more, I'm having a hard time swallowing that particular phrasing as grammatically correct. Wouldn't it just be easier to set the protection level to expire on July 18, when that's the day the movie will come out? If not could a admin reword that so it sounds a little better like "It will be unprotected on the date of the upcoming episode" or is that too obvious and one sided that Chimchar will evolve? --Dman dustin 13:49, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

If you look at the code, you'll notice that it's a template; it's not normally designed for this sort of situation, so the wording is hard to make any better without changing the template. (which I may end up doing to avoid this sort of thing.) But until then, it's sort of tough to be grammatically correct and still convey the message with this template. -- Jïörüjï Ðērākō.>.cнаt^ 19:27, 10 March 2009 (UTC)

Ok, we know that Ash caught Chimchar in Hearthome City, but...

Do we know where Paul caught Chimchar? I mean, seeing how it had two owners, I think it's fair to mention where Paul caught it. I mean, we know it was somewhere near some Zangoose, seeing how that's the memory that reveals why he was training it so hard, as well as why he kept it instead of just trying to release it like the others, but we need to know the name of that location. Weedle Mchairybug 01:56, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Sorry, we don't know the name of the exact location where Paul first encountered Chimchar. --Shiningpikablu252 01:58, 14 March 2009 (UTC)

Trivia Mistake!

There is a big mistake in the trivia section that Chimchar is the first of Ash's pokemon to activate it's ability. But i think Sceptile is the first of Ash's pokemon to activate it's ability "Over Grow". Am i right? --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 14:26, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Also, Pikachu and Static. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 14:27, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
It says "THE ability. Meaning his first Pokémon to use Blaze. -Sketch 14:28, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
However, it specifies Blaze in the trivia. I don't think it's notable though. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 14:28, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

But i think Ash's Charizard was the first to use it.When charizard was stucked in ice in Charizard Chills and ash did every thing to save it from dying. Then after recovering from ice, when ash saw him at the early morning,he was surprised to see that Charizard's fire was increased at an extreme level exactly like Chimchar's fire. So i think it was Charizard's ability. --♫♪Adyniz♪♫ 14:36, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

Unless I am mistaken, abilities didn't exist back then. The Dark Fiddler - You enter a poorly lit room... 14:38, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
Or until, you know, three years after that episode was over with; almost four years, then, after it was planned out originally. Gen II wasn't even out yet and you're bringing up Gen III stuff? TTEchidna 21:20, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Personally, I think the Charizard thing is correct. Abilities didn't exist, but Pokémon had them. It's as though when Gen II came out, scientists DISCOVERED that abilities existed. It's like the trivia question "Which mountain was the highest before the discovery of Mount Everest? Answer: Mount Everest. Even though it isn't discovered yet, it can still exist. It's also like the fact that Pokemon get new evolved forms in later generations which have always existed but are only recently "discovered". There we go. Dusknoir477 21:40, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
True, and besides which, Double Battles didn't even exist until Generation III, and that never stopped the Anime writers from including them in Rocket Battles, and in the Luana episode. Weedle Mchairybug 21:58, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
So shouldn't Piloswine in Gen 3 evolve after learning Ancientpower? J-J-M 21:44, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
Also, in EP007 Staryu shows an ability similar to Natural Cure, despite it not being introduced. That would be the first time an ability is shown. --MiekL94 02:32, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

Evolution

Based on 120, it seems like Chimchar isn't going to evolve until at least Ash's battle with Candice, and people are already arguing about the Notch Eared Pichu clip (that aired with the episode) that shows a Chimchar. Not to mention a Shiny Pichu Aura-Knight 21:52, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

Yeha..the Pichu clip...but that's not an official clip from the movie...so it can't count.--Tavisource 22:03, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
