I found teleport in the attack list, can someone confirm this? This doesn't make any sense, because Arcanine shouldn't be able to teleport unless it was teported by some other Pokémon. Well, its fast speed might make it look like it's teleporting, but it still doesn't make any sense. TheBlazikenMaster 12:50, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

Legendary
This article says "Because of its high stats, its species, and the fact that it was illustrated in an ancient slab along with the legendary birds in the second episode, it can be assumed that Arcanine was originally planned to be part of the legendary trio in first generation games; possibly even the birds' trio master."
I just don't like that "it can be assumed". I don't think that is nearly enough evidence for it to be "assumed". Maybe "it is possible that", but I don't agree that it can be "assumed". I mean, the fact that Dragonite has higher total base stats than it, isn't that quite major evidence that it was never going to be legendary? And I think it was only featured on that slab because its species name is "Legendary", and we know well that species names mean nothing. For example, we don't say that Slowbro has anything to do with a crab because it is a "Hermit Crab" pokemon. I admit that this is evidence for it possibly being a legendary, but I really don't think it can be "assumed". Sorry to be really specific about this, but I think a one word change would actually make a fairly major difference.Gastly's mama 15:09, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

Trivia: Slaking/Arcanine Average Base Stat Ranking
Slaking (Pokémon)'s Trivia section: "Slaking has the second highest base stat average of any non-legendary Pokémon."
List of Pokémon by base stats's Table (condensed to relevant non-legendaries):
Pokemon Base Average
Slaking 111.67
Tyranitar 100.00
Metagross 100.00
Dragonite 100.00
Salamence 100.00
Garchomp 100.00
Arcanine 92.50
There are a number of issues with this.
Firstly and most obviously is that these trivia notes contradict each other.
Second is that, arguably, neither of these are true in the first place. Slaking is #1, not #2, and Arcanine is #6 (disregarding "and non-pseudo-legendary Pokémon" in the trivia note) behind Garchomp, Salamence, Dragonite, Metagross, Tryanitar and Slaking but for one thing; Arcanine is a legendary pokemon according to it's pokedex entry, thus #6 should be Togekiss (90.83) given legendaries are excluded and if you also exclude the pseudo-legendaries, #2. (note that when I started writing this I had missed the non-pseudo-legendary part of Arcanine's trivia point but that does not invalidate my point that the trivia regarding to base averages needs to be refined and uniform)

"Arcanine is based on all animals the Legendary Beasts are based on: a tiger, a dog and a lion. Describing its species name: 'the legendary Pokémon' and making it candidate for the Pokémon Ho-Oh resurrected, although the latter is speculation." Kindly remind me where is the "dog" part, I went to Suicune article (which is the linked one) and there were no mentions of dogs. Entei is the one that has hints of dogs on his design but he is mostly a lion. LurKasumi 21:13, 31 May 2012 (UTC)
:I don't think Suicune's article relates it to dogs, mostly big cats. Entei is like a dog/lion, and Raikou resembles a real animal more than any of the others, I guess. I thought that 'legendary Pokémon' just pertained to its Pokédex references to China. Except for its grouping with the legendary birds. == Highest base stat total of all normal Pokémon ==
Excluding Legendary Pokémon (which is a frequent exception when talking about base stat totals), Pseudo-Legendary Pokémon (same case as with the Legendary Pokémon, Mega Evolutions (same case, as if they are the new Generation VI Legendary Pokémon) and Pokémon with hindering Abilities (Archeops and Slaking for obvious reasons), Arcanine has the highest base stat total of all Pokémon. When you check the list of highest base stat totals, and start looking up from Arcanine, you'll first see Archeops and then a whole list of not-normally powered Pokémon. So, is this noteworthy trivia or not? Nickvang (talk) 14:46, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
:Archeops and Slaking are higher, it doesn't matter of they have hindering Abilities. Furthermore, "normal" is entirely subjective and shouldn't be used. Glik (talk) 14:58, 14 January 2014 (UTC)
::Agreed. Legendaries and Megas are completely reasonable to exclude, but Archeops and Slaking can easily have their Abilities removed, so they aren't always necessarily excludable on the basis of usability alone. I'm not sure why you're excluding pseudos, either; they're completely ordinary Pokémon (breedable, never Shiny Pokémon, can be found in the wild, and so forth).
