===Generation I===
===Generation I===
Swift inflicts damage and is unaffected by modifications to the {{stat|accuracy}} stat and {{stat|evasion}} stat. It can hit a Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of moves such as {{m|Dig}} and {{m|Fly}}.
In the English versions, Swift inflicts damage and bypasses {{stat|accuracy}} checks to always hit. It can hit a Pokémon even during the {{cat|Moves with a semi-invulnerable turn|semi-invulnerable turn}} of a move such as {{m|Dig}} or {{m|Fly}}.

In all known revisions of the Japanese versions ({{4v2|Red|Green|Blue|Yellow}}), Swift was intended to never miss, but may miss due to [[List of glitches in Generation I#Swift effect glitch|a glitch]]. If the foe is under a {{m|Substitute}}, Swift will never miss and can hit a Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of Dig and Fly.

Swift (Japanese: スピードスター Speed Star) is a damage-dealing Normal-type move introduced in Generation I. It is TM39 in Generations I and II.

Effect

Generation I

In the English versions, Swift inflicts damage and bypasses accuracy checks to always hit. It can hit a Pokémon even during the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.

In all known revisions of the Japanese versions (Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow), Swift was intended to never miss, but may miss due to a glitch. If the foe is under a Substitute, Swift will never miss and can hit a Pokémon during the semi-invulnerable turn of Dig and Fly.

Generation II

Swift no longer hits the target during the semi-invulnerable turn of Fly or Dig, and moves such as Protect also allow the opponent to avoid taking damage.

Generations III and IV

Swift hits both opposing Pokémon in a Double Battle.

Generation V

In a Triple Battle, Swift will only hit opposing adjacent Pokémon.
