SmashWiki has more about this subject:

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS (Japanese: 乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ for Nintendo 3DS Great Fray Smash Brothers for Nintendo 3DS) and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U (Japanese: 乱闘スマッシュブラザーズ for Wii U Great Fray Smash Brothers for Wii U) are, together, the fourth installment of the Super Smash Bros. series. They will be released on the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U respectively in 2014. As with previous installments, characters from various Nintendo video games will do battle with each other. Non-Nintendo characters such as Mega Man will also be featured in the game.

The game has 35 playable characters, like its predecessor Brawl, but many of these characters are currently unknown. Pikachu is the only known playable Pokémon but more are expected to be revealed.
