Trivia

File:MeowthSunflora.png
Meowth disguised as a Sunflora
  • In Generation III, Sunflora is the only Template:Type2 that can learn Bullet Seed by level-up.
  • Sunflora's base Speed is the same as Sunkern's.
  • Sunflora shares the same species name with Espeon. They are both known as the Sun Pokémon.
  • Sunflora is Meowth's most frequent Pokémon disguise.
  • None of its anime appearances show Sunflora with its eyes open.
  • In generation II, it's shiny sprite is brighter than it's regular sprite. But, in generation IV it's regular sprite is much brighter.

Origin

Sunflora is based on a sunflower.

Name origin

Sunflora's name is a combination of sun and flora, referring to the plants and sunlight. Its name is also reminiscent of Sunflower. Its Japanese name may be a combination of 黄 ki, yellow, 吉 ki, joy, or 曦 ki, sun, and 向日葵 himawari, sunflower. Its French name comes from the Greek 'Helios', meaning 'sun', and tronc, a tree trunk.
