The repetitive nature of the games has led to some criticism. While Chunsoft has, indeed, created several games for many famous franchises (including {{wp|Final Fantasy}}'s {{wp|Chocobo's Dungeon}}), not once has it even ''slightly'' changed the formula shown above. This leads to several critics saying that the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series is "just another Mystery Dungeon game with Pokémon characters slapped on".

Spike Chunsoft (Japanese: スパイク・チュンソフト Spike Chunsoft), formerly Chunsoft (Japanese: チュンソフト Chunsoft), is a Japanese video game developer specializing in console RPGs. It was founded by Koichi Nakamura, a video game designer from Enix. They are the developers of the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series.
