Skill Swap (Japanese: スキルスワップ Skill Swap) is a non-damaging Psychic-type move introduced in Generation III. It was TM48 from Generation III to Generation IV.
Effect
Skill Swap will exchange the Abilities of the user and the target. If the user switches out of battle after using this move, its original Ability will be restored.
Wonder Guard, Multitype, Illusion, Zen Mode, and Stance Change cannot be exchanged with Skill Swap; if the user or the target has one of these Abilities, Skill Swap will fail.
Skill Swap bypasses accuracy checks to always hit, unless the opponent is in the semi-invulnerable turn of a move such as Dig or Fly.
Generation IV
Abilities that normally only activate when a Pokémon is sent out (such as Intimidate) will now activate after being switched via Skill Swap.
Generation V
When using Skill Swap on an opponent, it states the new Abilities of the Pokémon.
Generation VI
If Pokémon have the same Ability, Skill Swap still displays them being changed. If the two abilities being swapped both have an effect that activates when a Pokémon switches in (such as Intimidate), the Pokémon using Skill Swap will always have its new ability activate first.
