Sird (Japanese: サキ Saque) is one of The Three Beasts of Team Rocket in the FireRed & LeafGreen arc of the Pokémon Adventures manga. In the Diamond & Pearl arc, she was revealed to be one of the Team Galactic Commanders.
History
Ruby & Sapphire arc
She first was seen as a silhouette in the Hoenn region with Giovanni, Carr and Orm. They recovered remains of the Blue and Red Orbs, which have been turned into a Ruby and Sapphire, after the battle between Groudon and Kyogre.
She was also responsible of the release of Archie and Maxie and gave one of them armor and a sword of unknown, mythical origin, probably without Giovanni and the others knowing it.
FireRed & LeafGreen arc
In her first appearance, Sird worked with Giovanni and the other Beasts on the Sevii Islands and fought and defeated Lorelei on Seven Island. Later, she fell from Team Rocket's helicopter after it was taken over by Carr, but she (unlike Orm) survived. She later tried to catch Deoxys by disabling it with an energy beam launched from her Poké Ball (later on revealed to be Darkrai being unleashed), but was foiled when Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, and Silver (along with Mewtwo) used their bodies to block the beam from Deoxys, who escaped. However, to their surprise, the five Pokédex holders' bodies were turned to stone as a result. Having one of Lorelei's ice cuffs pinned and rapidly expanding from her left leg before she attempted the capture, she fled after remarking that this new gain is nothing short of capturing Deoxys as she had intended.
Emerald arc
Later, after the climax of the battle against the evil Guile Hideout, Archie reveals that Sird temporarily saved his and Maxie's lives just as they were about to be killed while fleeing in an air-car, at the end of the Ruby & Sapphire arc. The means that she did this are unknown. She offered him and Maxie the armor and sword that would later transform Archie into Guile Hideout, claimed they would give eternal life, but said that there was only one armor so they would have to fight to the death to see who would gain the armor, with Archie winning and killing Maxie in the end. Strangely enough, after she gave the armor to Archie, she quoted Veilstone's Myth, which similarly refers to a man with a sword. Also worth noting is in a flashback from Crystal, before Archie and the armor vanished, when she asked who was behind it Archie muttered out 'It was...', the first few syllables of Galactic, as in Team Galactic, foreshadowing Sird's connection to the team.
Diamond & Pearl arc
Sird reappeared to take part in the battle of the Spear Pillar, following the defeat of Jupiter, Mars and Saturn, sporting a new Galactic-styled uniform. She still has problems with the injuries she suffered because of Lorelei.
Sird reveals that she only helped Archie or worked with Team Rocket as an undercover mission for her boss Cyrus, in order to investigate about Pokémon from outer space, namely Jirachi or Deoxys. To fulfill her agendas, she selected a Galactic Grunt and released him from the Team Galactic hive mind, implanting her will on him instead to carry out plans autonomously. This grunt became known as the Advanced level Grunt, and inherited Sird's obsession with the Pokédex, which she developed after her first encounter with the Pokédex holders. Following the petrification incident, she explains that Mewtwo chased her all the way back to Sinnoh out of revenge for the Trainers she petrified, and she barely managed to escape its pursuit.
Following this explanation, Riley appears and engages her in battle. She easily avoided all of his attacks and was able to escape along with the other Commanders.
Platinum arc
Sird is revealed to have released Darkrai into the Distortion World, having deemed herself as unable to control it.
It is not known what happened to her following Team Galactic's defeat and disbandment.
Pokémon
On hand
Persian seems to be Sird's most preferred battling Pokémon. She was first seen in the Icefall Cave where she was introduced alongside her Trainer, just as Orm and Carr's first revealed Pokémon were. The next time she was seen, she fought against Lorelei in Some Things Are Better Left Unown and was overwhelmed and beaten by the Elite Four's well-trained Pokémon, causing Sird to resort to underhanded means to win.
Persian's known moves are Slash and Thief, and her Ability is Limber. | ||
Debut | A Beastly Cold Reception |
---|
Starmie is one of Sird's battlers and seems to be used mainly for minor aerial transport using its psychic levitation. Besides being used for old-fashioned battles, Sird also uses its Camouflage to sneak behind her opponents and take advantage of their vulnerability when their guard is down.
Starmie's known moves are Camouflage and Hyper Beam. | ||
Debut | Some Things Are Better Left Unown |
---|
Banette is another of Sird's strong battlers. While she debuted much later than Sird's two other Pokémon, she proved quite versatile and nimble when she single-handedly overpowered Silver's Gyarados and succeeded in capturing him.
Banette's known moves are Shadow Ball, Snatch, and Double-Edge, and her Ability is Frisk. | ||
Debut | Surprised by Sneasel |
---|
Released
Darkrai was the unseen Pokémon used by Sird to battle Mewtwo, which caused the petrification of Kanto Pokédex holders and Silver. Due to it being "uncontrollable", she released it into the Distortion World where it was controlled by Charon to be used against his enemies. It first fought Palmer, whose Cresselia was hostile against it, but was put to sleep and defeated. Later, it fought several other Legendary Pokémon in a battle with Giratina and Heatran. After Charon's defeat, it left now that it had been freed from its mind control.
Darkrai's known moves are Dark Pulse, Hypnosis, and Dark Void, and its Ability is Bad Dreams. | ||
Debut | Double Trouble with Dialga and Palkia IV |
---|
Controlled
Sird was able to awaken all the forms of Unown by solving the mystery of the Tanoby Keys, despite the fact that no one was able to do so before. Sird had them surround Lorelei as a way to distract her in order for Starmie to attack during their first appearance.
None of Unown's moves are known. | ||
