Trivia
- Wurmple evolves into either Cascoon or Silcoon, based on its personality value. Thus, a given Wurmple's evolution is random.
- Silcoon shares the same species name with Metapod, Kakuna, and Cascoon. They are all known as Cocoon Pokémon.
- In Pokémon Platinum, Silcoon can learn Bug Bite by evolution from Wurmple, despite not having a visible mouth.
Origin
Silcoon is based on the chrysalis or cocoon stage of a butterfly or moth.
Name origin
Silcoon's name may be a combination of silk and cocoon. Its Japanese name may be a combination of 殻 kara, shell, and chrysalis.
