Shinobu (Japanese: シノブ Shinobu) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime who first appeared in The Legend of the Ninja Hero!. She is a member of Ninja Village and is often seen next to Hanzo, the village elder. Despite her youthful appearance, she is in fact a lady who is a hundred years old.

History

Shinobu reveals her true age to Clemont and Bonnie

Shinobu first appeared alongside Hanzo in The Legend of the Ninja Hero!, where she welcomed Ash and his friends to the village. She also attended Sanpei's Pokémon battle with his brother Nihei.

Later, Ninja Village was attacked by villainous ninjas. During the attack, she tried to protect Hanzo, but failed and Hanzo was captured. As Ash and Sanpei chased after Hanzo's kidnappers, Shinobu, Serena, Clemont and Bonnie decided to help the other villagers. After meeting up with Ippei and Nihei, she and Serena got caught by a device from Team Rocket, however thanks to her ninja techniques, they easily escaped. After the ninja army had retreated, Shinobu joined the others to hear Saizo tell about Kagetomo. After discovering the location of Hanzo, Mt. Otori, everyone decided to head there and save him.

Upon arriving at Mt. Otori, the group got attacked by Heidayū and several ninjas. Shinobu sent out her Liepard to battle the ninja's Pokémon and, together with Serena, Clemont and Nihei, managed to defeat them. After Kagetomo had been defeated and Ippei had been given the title of chieftain, Shinobu was seen again saying goodbye to Ash and his friends the next day. After the group's departure she joined Hanzo, Ippei, Sanpei, Nihei and Saizo in a conversation about the mysterious power of Ash's Greninja.

		Liepard is Shinobu's only known Pokémon. Liepard was used in the final battle against the ninja army's Pokémon and defeated a Houndoom with Shadow Ball. Liepard's known moves are Hyper Beam and Shadow Ball.
