Seadra (Japanese: シードラ Seadra) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves from Horsea starting at level 32, and evolves into Kingdra via trade with Dragon Scale.

Biology

Physiology

Seadra is a blue sea horse Pokémon. It has a long snout and a number of spikes on its face. Its torso is also covered in spikes as well as rough scales. Seadra's pectoral fins have sharp pointed ends from which it exudes venom. It also has a large tail which is generally coiled up.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Although Seadra is not fully-evolved, it can use Hyper Beam and Giga Impact, since it was fully-evolved in Generation I. Despite not being a Poison type it can use the Poison Point to induce poisoning in foes.

Behavior

Seadra can swim facing backwards by rapidly flapping its fins and its coiled tail. Seadra will find coral reefs to sleep in. After it wriggles in between the coral branches it uses its tail to hook itself into place as it rests. Seadra catches its prey by spinning its body to create large whirpools which tire its foes. Seadra will then swallow the victim whole using its long snout. After the female Seadra gives birth, the male Seadra will take care of the young and its nest. It will viciously attack those who venture too near to its children. Seadra also contains a gene which its pre-evolution Horsea did not carry, whether this gene contributes to its poison or dragon attributes is not clear.

Habitat

Seadra live, for the most part, in oceans with a swift current.

A Seadra owned by Fergus was one of the Pokémon that were captured and cloned by Mewtwo in Mewtwo Strikes Back.

Cissy used a Seadra while Ash was participating in her target test in Fit to be Tide.

Juan, the leader of the Sootopolis Gym, also owns a Seadra.

Pokémon Special

Silver had a Seadra as a part of his team, although it was not shown. During the events of Template:PSV, Silver secretly sends Seadra to Gold via trade for his Poliwhirl, triggering Seadra's evolution into Kingdra.
