: "Hmm... The talent levels of the students here are unknown. The potential's there."

Slateport City
* In front of the Oceanic Museum
: "Huh? I'm sure I met you somewhere before. Have I introduced myself to you? If not, my name's Scott. I just saw Team Aqua run away from here like they were stung. Let me guess—you drove them away?"
: "Hmm... Maybe, just maybe, this Trainer..."
: "All right! I think you're going to become a good friend. So, let's register each other in our PokéNavs."
: "What I'd like to do is tag along with you, but I do want to keep an eye on the talents of other people, too. So, I'll be off to roam other towns a bit more. Be seeing you, <player>!"

* In front of the Battle Tent
: "Oh, hey! If it isn't <player>! <Player>, let me guess—you're going to take the Battle Tent challenge? Yeah! That's a good idea! That's a really great idea! After all, a tough Trainer is the perfect fit for the Battle Tent! Give it your best effort!"

Mauville City
: "Hehe... I was watching that match! You're friends with that boy Wally, aren't you? But you didn't hold anything back and beat him impressively. Yeah! That's what a real Pokémon battle is all about! I idolize Trainers like that! I'll be cheering for you!"

Verdanturf Battle Tent
: "Hey there, <player>! I thought I might see you here. A Battle Tent's a place where you can meet tough Trainers. It doesn't matter what the rules are, or how battles are waged, either. <Player>, I expect you to do the best you can!"
: "I visit here regularly in hopes of seeing tough Trainers in action in whatever the situation."

Fallarbor Battle Tent
: "Hi, <player>! So you came out to this Battle Tent! The people in these parts tend to be easygoing and laid-back. But, you see, what I'm looking for are people with... How should I say this? Someone bursting with the desire and the drive to win. If there were a Trainer like that, I'd immediately... Whoops! Never mind! Keep working at it!"
: "Instead of wasting your time with the likes of me, why not make a challenge?"

119
: "Hahahah! Way to go, <player>! I just passed by a Trainer riding a Bike. You just beat that Trainer, didn't you? It was pretty obvious that you did. The kid looked really upset with a face all red from anger. I sure seem to run into you often. Are you off to Fortree Gym next? I expect that you'll do well at the Gym. Well, I'll be seeing you!"

Match Call
: "Hiya, <player>, it's me! Just as I thought, you won at the Fortree Gym. Your strength... Perhaps you really are the Trainer that I've been searching for. Remember, you have a fan in me. I'll be cheering from the sidelines. Keep up the great work!"

Lilycove City
: "... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Zzz... ... ... ... ... ... Huh?! Oh, sorry, sorry! I was snoozing! I came to check out this Pokémon Contest thing. I have to admit, it does look quite entertaining, but... Consider me a purist—I prefer battles and tough Trainers. But that's just me. <Player>, I hope you'll enjoy everything like the Gyms, Contests, Battle Tent, the whole works!"
: "I think it does take strategy to win a Contest. Devising Contest strategies is one way of becoming a better Trainer, I'd say."

Mossdeep City
: "<Player>, feeling good? I'm doing great! I'd heard Mossdeep's Gym Leader is pretty strong, so I decided to come take a look-see for myself. But there's something wrong about this town. People are going on about a warning letter and the Space Center... I don't think it concerns me in any way, though."

Ever Grande City
: "<Player>, you've clawed your way up to face the Pokémon League! I'm happy for you! You made my cheering worthwile! <Player>, if you were to become the Pokémon League Champion... I'll get in touch with you then. Okay, <player>. Go for greatness!"

Match Call
: "Hi, hi, <player>! It's me, Scott. I'm aboard the S.S. Tidal now. It feels great to be on the sea! By the way... There's this place that I'd like to invite you to for a visit. If you're interested, board a ferry at either Slateport or Lilycove. I'll fill you in on the details when we meet. I'll be waiting!"

S.S. Tidal
: "Well, hi, hi! <Player>, <player>! Something's come up, so I have to disembark, but I am glad to see you! Congratulations, League Champion! There's a place I'd like to invite someone like you. It's the... Battle Frontier! What's the place like? You'll understand when you see it! I've spoken with the ship's Captain about this. The next time you take a ferry, you should be able to sail to the Battle Frontier. Okay, <player>, I'll be waiting for you at the Battle Frontier!"

Battle Frontier
* At the entrance
: "Well, if it isn't <player>! You came out here!"
: "It's great to see you here, it really is! I hope you'll take your time and explore everywhere. Naturally, I hope you'll also experience the pure essence of battling. I also have my quarters here, so feel free to visit if you have time."
* Inside Scott's quarters
: "Well, hello and welcome! Heheh... Sorry about the cramped space. Anyway, <player>, let me formally welcome you to the Battle Frontier. This is my dream come true. It took me years and years, but I've finally given shape to my dream. On reflection, it was a terribly long journey... I left home alone on a quest to find strong Trainers. No one can imagine how much effort or time it took to make this real. But that's all in the past. No point dwelling on that! All I want for you is to enjoy battling to your heart's content here. <player>, I want you to have this as a memento for all the time our paths crossed on our journeys. "
: "You can check your Battle Points on your Frontier Pass. The more success you have here at the Battle Frontier, the more Battle Points you will collect. Use your Battle Points the way you see fit, like trading them for items. "
: "I'm expecting great things from you!"
: "You don't just train for battle, right? I think I remember you working on a Pokédex as well. Well, guess what? You may run into wild Pokémon in the Battle Frontier somewhere... Fufufu!"
: "Have you met any of the Frontier Brains? Better yet, have you obtained any symbols from them? I handpicked the Frontier Brains as the toughest Trainers anywhere. But I'm sure that seeing how tough you are will startle even them!"
: "Every Trainer is an individual. They all lead lives of their own. But when they're in a battle, it doesn't matter who they are. They're all the same! I love the purity of battle, where everyone is equal. That's why I go everywhere seeking Trainers who are serious about battling, and invite them here."

Scott becomes the first victim of Enta's running gag regarding him headbutting people in the lower area. Despite that, he still accepts Enta as a worthy Trainer of the Battle Frontier. Enta returns to Scott when he was able to win in the rematch at the Multi Battle challenge. Scott was proud to hear from him about his progress and tells Enta about Rald's status as a Champion who made it to the Hall of Fame. Scott took Enta to the Battle Frontier (Generation III) where Mitsuki's battle with Rald took place. In the final chapter, when Enta had a battle with the final Frontier Brain, Anabel, Scott arrives and tells Anabel that she shouldn't go all out since many Trainers who faced her lost their confidence and quit training for good. However, Enta didn't care about that since he can work well with his Pokémon.

Quotes

Petalburg City

"Excuse me! Let me guess, from the way you're dressed, are you a Pokémon Trainer? ... ... ... ... ... ... Well, maybe not. Your clothes aren't all that dirty. You're either a rookie Trainer, or maybe you're just an ordinary kid. I'm roaming the land in search of talented Trainers. I'm sorry to have taken your time."

Pokémon Trainer's School

"Hello? Didn't we meet before? I think back in Petalburg City. Let me introduce myself. My name's Scott. I've been traveling everywhere in search of outstanding Trainers. More specifically, I'm looking for Pokémon battle experts. So, what brings you to this School? Are you a Trainer, too? The first thing you should do is to have a Pokémon learn the move Cut. If I remember correctly, someone in this town has Cut."
"Hmm... The talent levels of the students here are unknown. The potential's there."

Slateport City

"Huh? I'm sure I met you somewhere before. Have I introduced myself to you? If not, my name's Scott. I just saw Team Aqua run away from here like they were stung. Let me guess—you drove them away?"
"Hmm... Maybe, just maybe, this Trainer..."
"All right! I think you're going to become a good friend. So, let's register each other in our PokéNavs."
"What I'd like to do is tag along with you, but I do want to keep an eye on the talents of other people, too. So, I'll be off to roam other towns a bit more. Be seeing you, <player>!"
"Oh, hey! If it isn't <player>! <Player>, let me guess—you're going to take the Battle Tent challenge? Yeah! That's a good idea! That's a really great idea! After all, a tough Trainer is the perfect fit for the Battle Tent! Give it your best effort!"

Mauville City

"Hehe... I was watching that match! You're friends with that boy Wally, aren't you? But you didn't hold anything back and beat him impressively. Yeah! That's what a real Pokémon battle is all about! I idolize Trainers like that! I'll be cheering for you!"

Verdanturf Battle Tent

"Hey there, <player>! I thought I might see you here. A Battle Tent's a place where you can meet tough Trainers. It doesn't matter what the rules are, or how battles are waged, either. <Player>, I expect you to do the best you can!"
"I visit here regularly in hopes of seeing tough Trainers in action in whatever the situation."

Fallarbor Battle Tent

"Hi, <player>!
"Instead of wasting your time with the likes of me, why not make a challenge?"

Route 119

"Hahahah!

Match Call

"Hiya, <player>, it's me! Just as I thought, you won at the Fortree Gym. Your strength... Perhaps you really are the Trainer that I've been searching for. Remember, you have a fan in me. I'll be cheering from the sidelines. Keep up the great work!"

Lilycove City

"... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Zzz... ... ... ... ... ...
"I think it does take strategy to win a Contest. Devising Contest strategies is one way of becoming a better Trainer, I'd say."

Mossdeep City

"<Player>, feeling good? I'm doing great! I'd heard Mossdeep's Gym Leader is pretty strong, so I decided to come take a look-see for myself. But there's something wrong about this town. People are going on about a warning letter and the Space Center... I don't think it concerns me in any way, though."

Ever Grande City

"<Player>, you've clawed your way up to face the Pokémon League! I'm happy for you! You made my cheering worthwile! <Player>, if you were to become the Pokémon League Champion... I'll get in touch with you then. Okay, <player>. Go for greatness!"

Match Call

"Hi, hi, <player>!

S.S. Tidal

"Well, hi, hi!

 • At the entrance
"Well, if it isn't <player>! You came out here!"
"It's great to see you here, it really is! I hope you'll take your time and explore everywhere. Naturally, I hope you'll also experience the pure essence of battling. I also have my quarters here, so feel free to visit if you have time."
 • Inside Scott's quarters
"Well, hello and welcome! "
"You can check your Battle Points on your Frontier Pass. The more success you have here at the Battle Frontier, the more Battle Points you will collect. Use your Battle Points the way you see fit, like trading them for items. "
"I'm expecting great things from you!"
"You don't just train for battle, right? I think I remember you working on a Pokédex as well. Well, guess what? You may run into wild Pokémon in the Battle Frontier somewhere... Fufufu!"
"Have you met any of the Frontier Brains? Better yet, have you obtained any symbols from them? I handpicked the Frontier Brains as the toughest Trainers anywhere. But I'm sure that seeing how tough you are will startle even them!"
"Every Trainer is an individual. They all lead lives of their own. But when they're in a battle, it doesn't matter who they are. They're all the same! I love the purity of battle, where everyone is equal. That's why I go everywhere seeking Trainers who are serious about battling, and invite them here."

Scott greeting Ash

Scott first appeared in The Scheme Team. After observing Ash's battle against Agatha, Scott recommended that Ash should take on the Battle Frontier challenge. Starting with Numero Uno Articuno, Scott appeared at every battle facility to observe Ash's battle against the resident Frontier Brain.

In Gathering the Gang of Four!, it was revealed to Ash and his friends that Scott is the owner of the Battle Frontier. According to him, the Battle Facilities were created in order to expand the art of Pokémon battle. Scott offered Ash the position of a Frontier Brain after he defeated Pyramid King Brandon in the following episode. However, Ash declined as he wanted to continue his journey. Scott let him know that if he changed his mind, the offer would always be open to him.

Reason: needs expanding

In correspondence with Pokémon Emerald version, Scott appears as the founder of the Battle Frontier in the Emerald arc of Pokémon Adventures. He also makes a cameo in the Ruby and Sapphire chapter during the fight between Groudon and Kyogre. He is an acquaintance of Norman, and developed ties to Professor Oak prior to the Emerald arc. He looked all over the land scouring for Trainers worthy of the title of a Frontier Brain before settling on the seven seen in the series. After Emerald helped find Jirachi, Scott wishes that many people would come to the Battle Frontier.

Scott can usually be seen riding on a flying saucer.

In the Pokémon Battle Frontier manga

Scott in the Pokémon Battle Frontier manga

Scott is seen supporting Enta throughout this manga, mostly inviting him to watch certain battles relating with Mitsuki and Rald. Scott debuts in Enta Arrives at the Battle Frontier! where he gave Enta an invitation after seeing his enthusiasm for Pokémon Battles when Enta's Vulpix had a battle with a Trainer's Marshtomp. Later in Battle Between Student and Master!, Enta met up with him once more after winning in the Battle Tower while at the Record Hall. Scott took Enta to the Battle Dome where Mitsuki's battle with Rald took place.

Scott in the Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire manga

In the Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire manga

Scott appears in the Pokémon Ruby-Sapphire manga. His only appearance was in The Selected Trainer?! where he invited Red and his Pokémon to the Battle Frontier after witnessing Clefairy rescue a baby dressed up as a Pikachu. At first, they disagreed with his choice but were reluctant afterwards. Red and the gang then take a train to the Battle Frontier with Scott catching up to them in a bike. Then they take a boat since it was located on an island. Two ladies welcome Scott and Scott gives Red and his Pokémon a tour. After the tour, Scott takes them to the Battle Tower and assigns Red and his Pokémon jobs to clean out the toilets after finding out from one of the people there that none of Red's Pokémon are battle worthy. The toilets overflowed unfortunately and washed them away.
