Scizor (Japanese: ハッサム Hassam) is a Bug/Steel-type Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Scizor has a similar appearance to its evolutionary predecessor Scyther, except with a thick, metallic exoskeleton, which comes at the expense of much of the speed Scyther had. Scizor also has crab-like claws with eye-like patterns on them that bear a faint resemblance to a Trapinch's head. Scizor has two-toed feet with one toe in front and the other in the back. Scizor has two-lobed wings like a butterfly.

Gender differences

The female Scizor has a bigger abdomen than the male.

Special abilities

Scizor may not be as fast as Scyther, but it's basically stronger than Scyther in many other aspects.

Behavior

Scizor are known to upraise their claws and wave them around to scare others, as their claws look like two heads. A Scizor's wings are not meant for flying but rather used to cool down body temperature, however a Scizor has been seen flying with its wings in the Pokémon anime.

Habitat

Diet

Main article: Pokémon food

In the anime

Scizor

was first seen under the ownership of a trainer named Shingo who thought he could always predict the outcome of a match by the database on his computer in Wired For Battle.

Vicious used a Scizor to retrieve Celebi in Pokémon 4Ever.

Gary Oak used a Scizor against Ash in The Ties That Bind.

In A Judgment Brawl, Katie used a Scizor to battle Ash's Swellow during the Hoenn League. Katie's Scizor lost despite it having the type advantage.

In Curbing the Crimson Tide, a girl named Luna had a Scizor disguise itself as "Red Lightning". Red Lightning went around a city, battling other people's Pokémon. Red Lightning would then scribble on the defeated Pokémon's face. The disguised Scizor's reign of terror ended when Ash's Pikachu blasted its costume off and when Ash's Sceptile defeated it in battle.

It also appeared in Gymbaliar under the ownership of a girl named Minnie. It fought against Brock's Croagunk and lost.

In the manga

In the Pokémon Special manga

Scizor is first seen in Template:PSV under the control of Green, having evolved from his Scyther prior to the events of the volume. He brings it on his journey to the Sevii Islands.

In the TCG

Main article: Scizor (TCG)

Other appearances

Super Smash Bros. Melee

Scizor is a more dangerous version of Marill. Not only does it do more damage but it will fly around the screen targeting an opponent.

Trophy information

This evolved form of Scyther has arms ending in large pincers with distinctive eye-spot markings. It's unable to fly very far with its wings, but it can affect its body temperature by flapping them at high speeds. Its sleek look has made Scizor quite popular among collectors.

Game data

NPC appearances

  • Pokémon Ranger: Garret uses a Scizor in his attempts to stop the player.
  • Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2: Scizor is a famous explorer who is captured by Froslass in ice for several decades. The player defeats Froslass and frees Scizor, who bestows the Secret Rank upon the player's team in gratitude.
