Satoshi's Charizard is Satoshi's first Pokémon in the Pokémon Zensho manga. He received it in Professor Oak's laboratory after it saved him from a flock of Pidgey.

History

Satoshi recieved Charizard when it was a Charmander in Prologue: Pallet Town. Satoshi wanted to take the Template:Type2 as it saved his life before and repaid the offer. Charmander has used many techniques which are considered extraordinary.

In the next chapter, Charmander was able to win the first gym battle by attacking Onix on the head, in which Brock rewarded him with a badge. Satoshi wanted to use Charmander in the second gym battle against Misty but it was afraid of the water as the flame on its tail would go out.

In Vermilion City, Charmander was used against Shigeru's Squirtle. It evolved into a Charmeleon after defeating the Squirtle. In that same chapter, it was used against Lt. Surge's Electabuzz and at first, it was having trouble dealing with Electabuzz. However, after tipping over a stake containing a barbed-wire fence, it was able to defeat Electabuzz by tying it up and winning Satoshi his third badge.

In Celadon City, Charmeleon was used against Erika's Vileplume. As Charmeleon tried to put the flames out after accidentally causing a fire on Erika, the referee was going to announce Erika as the winner but Erika stopped them as Charmeleon was very kind.

In Cinnabar Island, Charmeleon starts to evolve into a Charizard after defeating Blaine's Arcanine. After evolution, Charizard has been relied on as a method of flight transportation.

In Viridian City, Charizard was substituted for Lapras after getting hit by Rhydon during the final gym battle against Giovanni. It is assumed that Charizard defeated Rhydon.

In the final chapter, Charizard was used to get to Indigo Plateau. It was used against Lance's Dragonite and Shigeru's Blastoise, defeating them both in the process. As a result, Satoshi has won the Pokémon League.
