Calling for an ally in an SOS Battle
An ally appearing in an SOS Battle

An SOS Battle (Japanese: 乱入バトル Intruder Battle) is a type of Pokémon battle in the Generation VII games, introduced in Pokémon Sun and Moon. An SOS Battle is a battle where a wild Pokémon calls out to allies for help, turning a normal one-on-one wild battle into a two-on-one battle. Once the player clears the first trial with Ilima at Verdant Cavern, any battle with a wild Pokémon can turn into an SOS Battle. All Totem Pokémon also battle the player in SOS Battles.

In a battle with a wild Pokémon, at the end of both Pokémon's turns, there is a random chance that the wild Pokémon may call for help. Sometimes no ally will show up in response to a call. Most Pokémon can summon allies of the same species, but some can summon other Pokémon in their family, and some can summon other unrelated Pokémon.

It is possible to increase the chances of a Pokémon calling an ally by sending out a Pokémon with Intimidate as its Ability or by using an Adrenaline Orb.

SOS Battle allies

The list below describes all Pokémon that can summon allies that are not their species. These allies are called randomly. Any Pokémon not listed below can only summon allies of the same species as itself.
