Rui (Japanese: ミレイ Mirei) is a mysterious young girl with psychic abilities. She is the sidekick and secondary protagonist in Pokémon Colosseum. She's determined, caring, and brave, but can be a bit bossy and stubborn at times.

Rui was on her way to visit her grandfather, Eagun, in Agate Village, when she noticed a strange aura surrounding a Pokémon that was later identified as a Shadow Pokémon. Once the Cipher thugs who owned the Shadow Pokémon realized that she could recognize and identify the altered Pokémon, they kidnapped her on the orders of Ein to prevent her from revealing the criminal organization's plans.

After dragging her across the Orre desert to Phenac City, the thugs were eventually thwarted by the efforts of Wes and his Umbreon and Espeon. Grateful for the rescue, Rui was determined to get to the bottom of the conspiracy developing in the desert.

Rui supported Wes in his quest to defeat Cipher and Team Snagem. Although Shadow Pokémon are usually indistinguishable from the regular kind to normal people, Rui is able to sense a black aura surrounding them. Using her clairvoyant abilities, Rui was able to identify Shadow Pokémon so that Wes could snag and purify them.

It is unclear where exactly Rui is from. It is known she was on her way to visit her grandparents in Agate Village, suggesting that she is not exactly from said village. None of the other towns in Orre seem to home to her, so it's possible that Rui is not a native of Orre in the first place, that her home is in some Orre town that is never seen, or that the game designers just thought it was unimportant. After the events of Pokémon Colosseum, it is assumed that Rui returned to her home, regardless of where it might be.

The extent of Rui's psychic abilities are never detailed or specified. Possible origins for her powers are never brought up, it is not known if Rui has the potential for other telepathic or psionic powers besides identifying Shadow Pokémon. At face value, though, Rui's powers are at least somewhat similar to the empathic Pokémon telepathy that Yellow possesses in the Pokémon Special manga.

Rui doesn't appear to own any Pokémon of her own, or at least they are never seen or mentioned. This is quite odd, since she obviously is extremely fond of Pokémon, and her grandfather was such a fantastic Trainer. It is possible that she left hers at home, or simply was unable to acquire any of her own in Orre, where wild Pokémon are rare to non-existent.

Often throughout the game, other characters will refer to Rui and Wes as a couple. Interestingly enough, this is not an assumption that Rui tries to dispute, suggesting that Rui at least may feel more than friendship for Wes. The belief that Wes and Rui are romantically involved is known in the fandom as ColosseumShipping.

In Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, which takes place five years after Colosseum, she is mentioned several times by the people of Orre. However, she is not actually seen.

In the English editions of Pokémon Colosseum, her shirt and skirt were lengthened.
