Rivalry (Japanese: とうそうしん Belligerence) is an Ability introduced in Generation IV. Eighteen Pokémon can have this Ability.

Effect

In battle

Rivalry raises the base power of a move by 25% if the foe and the user have the same gender, but reduces base power by 25% if the foe and the user have opposite genders.

If the user or the foe is genderless, the move's base power is unaffected.

Outside of battle

Rivalry has no effect outside of battle.
