Rayquaza (Japanese: レックウザ Rayquaza; German: Rayquaza; French: Rayquaza) is a Dragon/Flying-type Pokémon.

A Pokémon that flies endlessly in the ozone layer. It is said it would descend to the ground if Kyogre and Groudon were to fight.

Name origin

Rayquaza's name is likely a combination of ray and quasar.

It is based on Chinese dragons, or lóng.

In terms of relevance to other Pokémon, Rayquaza has similarities to Ziz, the Hebrew lord of the sky, when compared to Groudon's behemoth origins and Kyogre's leviathan origins.
