Prima Games is a company that writes companion strategy guides to video games. Prima has written all the strategy guides for the Pokémon series.

Pokémon Red and Blue

Two guides were made for these games. One featured Charizard on the cover; the other had Blastoise. Each guide offered a complete breakdown of Kanto, including all cities, towns, routes and caves. Locations for all 150 Pokémon were given including their respective skills and statistics. A list of moves, and all available TM and HM locations was also given. Also included were a list of where to find items, tips on how to beat the Gym Leaders and maps of every location. This book was published on October 14, 1998.

This guide was published almost a year after the Red and Blue versions. On the cover was a picture of Pikachu. In addition to Yellow, the guide covered the other two versions of the Pokémon games available as well. This book was published on October 13, 1999.

Pokémon Gold and Silver

Only one guide was made for these games. On the cover were Ho-Oh and Lugia. The guide gave a complete explanation of all the new features, such as the Pokégear. Details of the time-of-day dependent events were covered, with information on Pokémon specific to certain times.

Locations of all TMs and HMs were given. Battle tactics for how to obtain all eight gym badges were also given. Tips on breeding, capturing, raising, and training the new Pokémon were explained. A sealed section that revealed all puzzles and mysteries was included in the book too. This book was published on October 11, 2000.

Pokémon Master Pokédex

A second book was released to complement the Gold & Silver guide. It features Pichu on the cover and contains in-depth information about all of the Generation I and Generation II Pokémon (excluding Celebi)'s stats, learnsets, locations, evolution information, and information about breeding and baby Pokémon. There is also a section with information about the Pokémon Pikachu 2.

This guide had a picture of Suicune on the cover. Quick-path walkthrough for Pokémon trainers on the move were given so the player could get to places faster. Complete maps and walkthroughs of the Johto and Kanto regions were shown. A comprehensive Pokédex containing Crystal moves, availability charts, and detailed stats for all 251 Pokémon were included. Every secret item location and puzzle solution was exposed in the book. Detailed Pokémon evolution and breeding tips were also a major part of the book. This book was published on July 24, 2001.

Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Pokédex

This book was an expansion of the previous book. This guide had numerous Pokémon on the cover. The majority of the book is a Pokédex, but it also gives a guide of where to catch specific Pokémon after getting the National Pokédex, as well as covering the Battle Zone. A poster of all the Pokémon known to the public (Darkrai, Shaymin and Arceus not included) was a bonus in the book.

Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver Pokédex

This book is an expansion of the first volume. It features a complete Pokédex of all 493 Pokémon, complete move lists, as well as the maps and strategy guides for the post-Elite Four areas of Kanto and the Battle Frontier. It also comes with a poster similar to the one from the Diamond and Pearl Pokédex. The major changes with this poster, is all the game sprites have been replaced with official artwork, and all the previous Pokémon that weren't on the previous poster (Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus), as well as the new Pokémon Formes introduced in Pokémon Platinum (excluding Rotom) have been included on this new poster which gave it a larger size than the previous poster. It was released on April 27, 2010.

Both editions were released on March 6, 2011.

Pokémon Black and White Pokédex

The second volume contains a full Unova Pokédex listing, including Victini. The cover displays many Generation V Pokémon, including the final forms of the Unova Starter Pokémon. Unlike previous second volume books, this one did not contain a full National Pokédex listing, and many of the charts cover only the Unova Pokédex. A bonus poster containing all 152 Pokémon in the Unova Pokédex was included.

It covers how to complete the Unova Pokédex, wireless communications, using the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connetion, the Pokémon Global Link, competitive battle strategies, the Battle Subway and Pokémon Musical. It was released on April 25, 2011.
