Pokemon Pikachu

Pokemon pikachu is a series of Mini- gameboy like devices that have featurs such as: virtual pets, pedometers, and in the later models, an alarm, presents, a slot machine and a high card/low card game. It was an exercize toy, most notably recognised for it's award-"Most Popular Fitness Toy [Of Its Time]" by the Guinness Book of World Records. It's original release was- just "Pokemon Pikachu," A yellow unit featuring a black and white LCD screen to display Pikachu (and its actions.) Later came the Pokemon Pikachu 2 GS, which could be purchased in Clear or Silver with a color display and improved programming (more animations.)

Both Pokemon Pikachu Units differ from regular virtual pets as pikachu does not have to be picked up after, or given water and food. Instead, the unit is strapped onto a belt and used as a pedometer. Each step the the unit regesters give the user "watts" which are a currency whcih can be used to gamble or buy pikachu presents. As Pikachu's Happiness goes up (similar to the system in Pokemon Yellow) More activities are available; If neglected, However, the pikachu will become angry and not respond to anything the user does. The Pokemon Pikachu 2 GS units also has an Infared port that was capable of communicating with the second and third generation traditional pokemon games via the games "mystery gift" option, which was utilized using both the infared port on the pokemon pikachu and the infared port on the Game Boy Color/Advance. This was to be able to trade the Pikachu's watts for items in the Game. Though there is a limit to how much the Mystery gift option can be used on the traditional game cartridges, Pokemon pikachu's only limit to transfer in the number of watts of the unit. Watts can also be sent as a gift to other Pokemon Pikachu Units.
