The Pokémon Center men are a quintet of non-player characters that appear in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. They are all located in the Mauville City Pokémon Center, however only one will be present at a time. Each one can be indicated by the color of their hair.

Each man performs a different role.

If two or more players of Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald mix records with each other, the men that were in each players' games will be transferred over.

Mechanics

The final digit of the player's Trainer ID determines which of the five men will initially appear in the Mauville City Pokémon Center. The following list details which number corresponds with which man.

  • If the trainer's ID ends in 0 or 1, The Bard will appear.
  • If the trainer's ID ends in 2 or 3, The Hipster will appear.
  • If the trainer's ID ends in 4 or 5, The Trader will appear.
  • If the trainer's ID ends in 6 or 7, The Storyteller will appear.
  • If the trainer's ID ends in 8 or 9, Giddy will appear.

The storyteller

This man, in his own words, "tells tales of legendary Trainers". He tells the player about records they have set as well as those set with other players they have mixed records with. When approached by the player, he will offer them choices of the records they would like to hear about, and will also add a comment about it.

The Hipster

Giddy

Giddy will have a "scintillating story" for the player. He will ask a series of yes or no questions based on either a word from the easy chat system or something else, such as if the player knows a nice place for vacation. He appears to have a brother (Gaddy) and a niece who live in Laverre City in the Kalos region.
