Pokémon Center nurses operate the Pokémon Centers in the core series games and are referred to in-game as the center's receptionist,<!--Generations I, II, and FRLG--> usually standing behind the counter and beside a machine which is able to heal the player's Pokémon to full health. The nurses are not known to be named and there is no evidence to support that they are related, unlike their anime counterpart. They're accompanied by attendants<!--Generations I, II, and FRLG--> that guide the player in multiplayer functionality, like Link Trades and Link Battles, and which are usually found on the second floor (except in the Generation I games, where the attendant is found to the right of the Pokémon Center receptionist in a separate counter as there is only one floor).

In Yellow, nurses appear under a different overworld sprite that resembles the anime's Joy. A Pokémon Center Nurse operates every Pokémon Center in the Pokémon games, usually standing behind the counter and beside a machine which is able to heal the player's Pokémon to full health.

In Generation II, the nurses have red hair, except for the one in Fuchsia City, which has green hair. The second-floor attendants are also green-haired. The attendant on the Pokémon Communication Center's Trade Corner in Goldenrod City in Crystal is instead blue-haired; she also gives the player the GS Ball after being distributed in an event (in the localizations, she is unused, and appears climbing down the stairs of the second floor when calling the player to give them the GS Ball).
In Yellow, the Nurses appear under a different overworld sprite that better matches the official artwork of the time but which also bears a resemblance to the anime's Nurse Joy. They are also all accompanied by Chansey like Nurse Joy.

A nurse named Teala appears in every Pokémon Center second floor of FireRed or in the basement in the Generation IV games, usually giving information about wireless communication to the player. She manages the items the player obtains through Mystery Gift in Generation III.
In Diamond and Pearl, a nurse named Casey (Japanese: メディ Medi) participates in Super Contests with a Chansey nicknamed Pinky.

The Pokémon Center nurse (Japanese: ポケモンセンターナース Pokémon Center nurse) is an operator of a Pokémon Center. In Generations I, II, and III, they are also referred to as receptionists (Japanese: うけつけのねーちゃん reception lady). They facilitate the restoration of Trainers' Pokémon to full health, and usually provide this basic service free of charge.

In the main anime, Nurse Joy take the role of the Pokémon Center nurses.

The receptionist heals the player's Pokémon

A Pokémon Center Nurse operates every Pokémon Center in the Pokémon games, usually standing behind the counter and beside a machine which is able to heal the player's Pokémon to full health.

In Pokémon Yellow, the Nurses appear under a different overworld sprite that better matches the official artwork of the time but which also bears a resemblance to the anime's Nurse Joy. They are also all accompanied by Chansey like Nurse Joy.

In Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, a nurse named Casey (Japanese: メディ Medi) participates in Super Contests with a Chansey nicknamed Pinky.

When first spoken to with a Pokérus-infected Pokémon in the player's Pokémon party:

Oh... It looks like your Pokémon may be infected with the Pokérus.
Little is known about the Pokérus, except that it is a microscopic life-form that attaches to Pokémon.
While infected, Pokémon are said to grow exceptionally well.

Honestly, you people! Can ye not see I'm off duty?

The Pokémon Center I work at never gives me a day off!
This is my first time off in 20 days. Leave me in peace, can ye?

In the anime

In the main series

Main article: Nurse Joy
A Nurse Joy in the XY series

In the anime, Pokémon Centers are run by the Nurse Joys (Japanese: ジョーイ Joy, referred to as ジョーイさん Joy-san by most characters).

In Pokémon Origins

A Pokémon Center Nurse in Pokémon Origins

Pokémon Center nurses made a couple of appearances during the Pokémon Origins mini-series, serving the same role as in the games. The first one was seen in Viridian City in File 1 - Red, while another one appeared in Lavender Town in File 2 - Cubone. Unlike in most other media, these nurses were different from each other and had different voices as well.

In The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga

In addition to Nurse Joy appearing, several generic nurses appear in The Electric Tale of Pikachu, first appearing in Clefairy Tale. Nurses appear in a wide variety of outfits, which vary from city to city.

In the TCG

A Supporter card called Pokémon Nurse appears in the Expedition Base Set. The art on this card slightly resembles Nurse Joy from the anime, but has blue hair. The nurse appearing on the card also seems to have been based on the games' nurse, since the Trading Card Game is based on the games, rather than the anime.

A second card, titled Pokémon Center Lady, was released in the Flashfire expansion, both as a regular print and a Full Art card. Both have illustrations of Pokémon Center nurses from Generation VI.
