Apokélypse poster

Pokémon Apokélypse, originally known as simply Pokémon, is a fan-made trailer created by Dylan Innes and Lee Majdoub. It follows the future life of Ash Ketchum (Lee Majdoub) and his battles in cockfight-style battles.

Originally released as an e-mail to several Pokémon fansites, sent from a "Professor Oak" with the subject "secret movie trailer screening", Pokémon Apokélypse proved to be a shock to much of the Internet. The creators have announced that they will not make a full-length film, due to the fact that they do not have a Hollywood budget. Despite of this, numerous Pokémon fans around the Internet have been requesting for a full-length film to be made.

The film took nearly two years to make. There were several scenes not included in the actual trailer; one of them was a small cutscene of Meowth snorting a line of Rare Candy.

Plot

The trailer starts with a sign of Celadon City, reading, "The City of Rainbow Dreams". Then, it cuts to a Badge case with all eight Indigo League Badges, an old newspaper article entitled "Kid Wonder Defeats The Elite 4!", and finally Ash with a smoking Brock in the foreground. They are talking about the recently closed Celadon City Gym and the absence of Pokémon Masters. Pokémon battles have been outlawed, and secret fights are held underground in secret pits, outside of the public, with much more brutal concept than before. Brock tells Ash the fact that Pikachu will die if he continues fighting. Later on, Giovanni offers Ash a bribe in favor of letting his Ivysaur win a match against Pikachu. At first Ash refuses, but when Giovanni threatens to kill Professor Oak and Misty, he reluctantly accepts. Misty gets angry at Ash for acting like he does. They hug and Ash apologizes.

Pikachu nearly dies due to the injuries he sustained during the fight with Ivysaur. Ash looks at himself from a mirror in his Badge case, and angrily pushes it away, hating what he sees. He later arrives at Giovanni's headquarters and returns the bribe money, declaring that he's out of the League business. Giovanni gets aggravated and swears that he will kill Ash and everyone he ever knew. He sends Jessie and James on the job, and they successfully kill Professor Oak. Brock is also caught and tortured. Ash sets off to defeat Team Rocket and regain his reputation. The trailer ends with Misty asking Ash, "When is it gonna stop?", to which Ash answers, "When I've caught them all."
