Plusle (Japanese: プラスル Prasle) is an Electric-type Pokémon. It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Plusle come with the ability Plus which increases the user's Special Attack when entered into a double battle with an ally that has the ability, Minus.

Biology

Physiology

Plusle and Minun bear a remarkable resemblance to Pichu and Pikachu. They have short tails with flat plus signs on the end of them, while their cheeks are circular with plus signs voided in the middle.

Special abilities

Plusle creates electrical pom-poms and sparks to cheer on its partners.

Plusle's abilities in battle are basically the same as it's cousin Pikachu except that Plusle has more Special Attack power than Pikachu without a Light Ball and slightly faster. However, Plusle is unable to use Volt Tackle and Slam. On the other hand, Plusle gets more support moves than Pikachu, such as Baton Pass, Fake Tears and Copycat.

Behavior

Plusle is a cheerful and supportive Pokémon, always cheering on comrades in battle by using the spark pouches in its cheeks. It is very compassionate towards its friends, since it is known to cry upon witnessing a friend lose a battle. They are commonly referred to as cheerleaders for these actions.

In the anime

Plusle first appeared alongside Minun in A Different Kind of Misty. Both Pokémon were owned by Thatcher, who is responsible for protecting a lighthouse. The same Plusle and Minun appear again in Cheer Pressure, where Thatcher is training them to be cheerleaders.

Elijah used Plusle and Minun as actors in Lights, Camerupt, Action. The plot of the movie was that Pikachu, Plusle and Minun were setting out to rescue Princess Kirlia from an evil Exploud.

Plusle and Minun also appear as supporting characters in the film Destiny Deoxys, serving as the story's comic relief. The pair helps Tory Lund to overcome his fear of Pokémon.

Solana's Plusle also appears with her each time she herself makes an appearance, except DP071 and the following episode. It is the only one so far not to be seen with a Minun partner.

In the manga

Ruby befriended a Plusle at the Abandoned Ship.

Excess data found on the game disc includes data for seven playable characters cut from the final roster, including Plusle and Minun as a tag team akin to the Ice Climbers. However, in the final version of the game, Plusle just appears as a random trophy alongside Minun.

• Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire: Plusle combines with Minun to produce an electric current blocking the entrance to the Poké Mart on the Sapphire Field.
• Pokémon Colosseum: A Plusle is Duking's favourite Pokémon. After Cipher kidnaps it, he is forced into inaction. Wes rescues the Pokémon and Plusle decides to join him as thanks.
• Pokémon Ranger: Plusle is the partner of Solana. After the end credits, it also feels a bond with Lunick.

Trivia

• Oddly, Plusle can Learn Fake Tears at both Level 21 and 31, but its partner Minun can only learn it once, at level 31.

• Plusle shares the same species name with its partner Minun. They are both known as Cheering Pokémon.

• Plusle and Minun's colors represent Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Versions with a shiny Minun representing Pokémon Emerald by being green.
  • It is also possible that Plusle and Minun's shiny colors were based off of the Super Mario Brothers, Mario[1] (Plusle) and Luigi[2] (Minun).

Name origin

Plusle's name is based on plus, as in something with a positive electrical charge. It also appears to have pulse in its name.
