Platinum's Empoleon (Japanese: プラチナのエンペルト Platinum's Emperte) is an Empoleon owned by Platinum in the Pokémon Adventures manga.
History
Empoleon was first seen as a Piplup when Platinum let her out of her Poké Ball to choose her as her starter at the start of the Diamond & Pearl arc. Later on at Oreburgh City, Piplup had lost her ego when she failed to protect Platinum at the Oreburgh Mine, but regained it after winning the battle against Roark with a Water Pulse. While training in Eterna City for Platinum's Gym Battle with Gardenia, Piplup evolved along with Tru and Chimler as Cynthia walks past them, and managed to secure a win against both of Gardenia's Pokémon with a deceptive use of its Blizzard. Prinplup later competed in Platinum's first contest in VS. Pachirisu.
Prinplup evolves into Empoleon in VS. Gible in the Veilstone Department Store, and is used for the girl's gym battle with Crasher Wake in this stage, defeating his Floatzel before being knocked out by his Quagsire. It played much the same role in her return to Hearthome City when it defeated Fantina's Drifblim with another Blizzard before a carefully planned use of Trick Room from the foreigner's Mismagius defeated it, leaving Lax, Diamond's Munchlax, to defeat it. It then also participated in her gym battles with Byron and Candice, but fails to do much damage to the former's Bronzongs and ties with the latter's Snover due to falling for its Seed Bomb attack.
In the Platinum arc, Empoleon is first used for Platinum's challenge in the Battle Castle.
