Pickup (Japanese: ものひろい Picking Up Things) is an ability introduced in Generation III. Ten Pokémon have this ability.
The ability was shown in the anime episode Showdown at Linoone and the Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Adventure manga chapter Find Munchlax!!.
Effect
In battle
Generation III to IV
Pickup has no effect during battle.
Generation V
When the opponent uses a held berry or a held one-time use item, Pokémon with Pickup gain the used berry or item if they are not already holding an item. A Pokémon with Pickup can also gain an item thrown at it using Fling.
Outside of battle
Pickup allows the player to receive free items. After a battle, any Pokémon on the team that has this ability and is not already holding an item has a 10% chance of picking up an item. It can be retrieved through the normal means of taking a held item.

The ability may obtain Full Heals, Super Potions and Great Balls, regardless of the users level, as well as Ultra Balls and Rare Candy if the user is at or above level 25.
Pokémon Emerald
In Pokémon Emerald, the ability was changed to be affected by the Pokémon's level:
Pokémon Diamond, Pearl & Platinum
The only changes in Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum were a few tweaks to the items received:
Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver
While the Pickup items remained very similar to Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, several changes were made in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Some evolutionary stones and TMs were replaced with similar items; new items were also added.
Pokémon Black and White
While the Pickup items remained very similar to HeartGold and SoulSilver, several changes were made in Black and White. Previously obtainable TMs and items were replaced with either new or different items.
