Pickup (Japanese: ものひろい Picking Up Things) is an Ability introduced in Generation III. Ten Pokémon have this Ability.
Effect
In battle
Generation III to IV
Pickup has no effect during battle.
Generation V
When an opponent or ally uses a held Berry or a held one-time use item, Pokémon with Pickup gain the used Berry or item if they are not already holding an item. A Pokémon with Pickup can also gain an item thrown at it using Fling. In Double and Triple Battles if more than one Pokémon have Pickup, then only the faster Pokémon will pick up used items.
Outside of battle
Pickup allows the player to receive free items. After a battle, any Pokémon on the team that has this Ability and is not already holding an item has a 10% chance of picking up an item, even if the Pokémon wasn't used in battle. It can be retrieved through the normal means of taking a held item.
Items received
Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire
Abilities first appeared in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. These are the items that Pokémon with this Ability may pick up:

Pokémon Colosseum
Like in Ruby and Sapphire, the Pokémon may pick up items after each battle.
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen
In Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, the Ability focused on Berries, which are not as readily available in Kanto and the Sevii Islands as they are in Hoenn:

Battle Pyramid
This section is incomplete. Please feel free to edit this section to add missing information and complete it. Reason: needs item's percentage |
In addition, the Battle Pyramid has a separate list of items that can be received; this table, however, is instead based on the number of floors/rounds the player has completed inside the Pyramid.
The pickup table and the item balls on the ground share this same pool of items.

Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness
This section is incomplete. Please feel free to edit this section to add missing information and complete it. Reason: needs items |

While the Pickup items remained very similar to Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, several changes were made in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Some evolutionary stones and TMs were replaced with similar items; new items were also added.

While the Pickup items remain very similar to HeartGold and SoulSilver overall, changes include previously-obtainable TMs replaced by Prism Scales, and where it was previously possible to obtain Ethers between levels 31 and 50, it is now possible to obtain a Lucky Egg between levels 41 and 60.

Again, only minor changes have been made to the item table. Lucky Eggs have been removed and Ethers have been re-inserted in the same place as in HeartGold and SoulSilver. The Max Repel available between levels 1 to 10 has been replaced by a Hyper Potion.
