201

The quarter-finals of the Unova Pokémon League tournament continue. The second of the quarter-finals sees Cheren face the young PokéManiac Leo. Leo's Deino falls swiftly to Cheren's Unfezant to hand the match to Cheren. Leo is impressed by Cheren's ability to use the Power Herb, but before Leo could finish speaking, Cheren turns away without a word. Black, having witnessed his childhood companion's victory from inside his capsule, wonders what caused the significant change in Cheren's attitude.

Inside another capsule, the contestant that calls himself Grey appears to be pleased at Cheren's cold-heartedness, and even starts to shiver. Looker spies on the capsule through his Excellent Scope, and after verifying Grey as one of the contestants, decides to investigate his actions.

The third quarter-final soon commences, and sees the swimmer Marlon face the contestant that calls himself the Hood Man. Marlon's Jellicent is defeated by the Hood Man's Beheeyem. After the match, the Hood Man is seen muttering to himself about how the tournament is relevant to his research work.

And, in the last quarter-final, Iris faces Grey. Despite the type advantage, Grey's Cryogonal falls to Iris' Fraxure. Though Grey appears not to be pleased with the outcome of the match, the Hood Man sees Grey walk off the stage and muses that losing is not a big deal after all.

High up in one of the audience stands, Brycen recalls how the Gym Leaders had no memory of their kidnapping. He is also aware of a Pokémon that can erase memories, that being a Beheeyem, which happens to be owned by one of the contestants. As Brycen wonders whether it is a coincidence, or that he is overthinking, White checks Beheeyem's data on her Pokédex as her full team of Pokémon stand beside her, and deems there is worth in such an investigation.
