Outside of Fuego Ironworks, Pearl sits by a fire with Chimler, Chatler, and Rayler. Shivering from the cold, Pearl rolls down his sleeves. He tries to piece together Team Galactic's plan, but begins to nod off and realizes that having rolled-down sleeves is making him feel too comfortable and tired. As he rolls his sleeves back up, Mr. Fuego calls out to him and asks him if he wants to go into the ironworks, where it is warmer. Pearl politely declines, then draws his attention back to Team Galactic. He thinks about their logo, the letter G, and the places he has seen it.

Major events
Pearl determines that Cyrus is the leader of Team Galactic, due to his power and confidence in battle. He realizes that the people who had confronted Diamond and Platinum at Lake Valor were also part of Team Galactic, but they called themselves the "Cosmic Energy Development Corporation." Recalling everything he has heard from Cyrus, as well as his subordinates, Pearl realizes that "space" is the word that is always mentioned in reference to Team Galactic's goals. He is confused about what space has to do with using bombs to dry up the three lakes, and calls Mr. Fuego back over. Mr. Fuego reveals that Team Galactic had only asked him to make one set of parts for the Galactic Bomb. Realizing that the team only wants to make one bomb, Pearl wonders how they plan on targeting three separate lakes, as well as the lake guardians. Frustrated, Pearl tries to come up with an answer as his Pokémon share a look with each other.

Pearl hears a loud noise, then looks over to see Mr. Fuego packing screws into a cardboard box. Mr. Fuego reveals that he needs to have the box sent to Rad Rickshaw's Cycle Shop in Eterna City. Remembering that Rad had information on the Team Galactic Eterna Building, Pearl offers to deliver the screws for him. Riding on Rayler's back, Pearl sets off for Eterna City.

When Pearl arrives at the bicycle shop, it seems to be already closed. He is about to knock on the door anyway, when two figures can be seen behind him, silhouetted against the full moon. Pearl turns around to see that they are Clefairy, preparing to attack. He tells Rayler to use Discharge and Chatler to use Chatter, but the Clefairy withstand the attack. The Clefairy fly higher toward the moon, and Pearl realizes that they are about to use Lucky Chant. Right as he commands for Chimler to use Flare Blitz, Rad rides in on a bicycle to interrupt the fight. Rad recognizes Pearl as one of the ones who saved him from the Galactic Eterna Building, then explains that his Clefairy were just trying to protect him after his kidnapping. When Rad tells Pearl that Team Galactic was initially after his Clefairy for something having to do with the moon and stars, Pearl is surprised that space is referenced again.

A helicopter appears overhead, and Pearl takes Rad around the shop to hide. Pearl formally introduces himself, then explains his plan to stop Team Galactic at Lake Valor. Rad offers to bring Pearl to the lake on a tandem bicycle, and the latter agrees.

Meanwhile, three aircraft depart from the Galactic Eterna Building, heading for the Team Galactic HQ.
