Synopsis
Plot
The round picks up where the previous round ended, with Emerald and Todd talking to Latias, who's disguised as one of the maids in the Battle Pike. Latias explains to a startles Todd that she is merely forming the image of a human through the reflection of light - which she did so she could help "Rald" out in secret. Latias trusts Todd and thinks he could be of help, and so she communicates to him through telepathy.

The round continues where the previous one left off, with a Battle Pike maid revealing herself to actually be Eon duo (Adventures) in disguise. The reporter is confused to see that Latias can turn into a human, but Latias corrects him telepathically by stating that all she did was refract light to make an image of a human. Latias states that she did this to help Emerald in secret, and that she trusts the reporter enough to transmit her thoughts to his head.

The three of them walt back to the 134th room, in which Emerald says he saw a suspicious Pokémon - and indeed, they are immediately attacked by the wild Dusclops. Emerald says that Dusclops was probably born in Mt. Pyre, and uses soil from there with the same device he previously used to calm down Sudowoodo and Emerald. Latias finally explains to Todd that Emerald has developed the ability to tell a Pokémon's birthplace by looking at it, and that he has ammunition made of soil from all the different places in Hoenn, Kanto, and Johto. The scent of the soil from its birthplace calms down every Pokémon. Having finished with Dusclops, the three of them run off to other rooms with suspicious Pokémon to calm them all down. By the time they finish and leave the Battle Pike, it is already nighttime. Latias flies away, and Todd confronts Emerald, asking him who is the person who planted all of these suspicious Pokémon in the Battle Pike.
The three head off to the 134th room, where Emerald had found a suspicious Pokémon earlier. Upon entering, a wild Dusclops begins attacking them. Emerald guesses that it's from Mt. Pyre and pulls out his E Shooter to calm it down. Latias explains to a confused reporter that Emerald has traveled to many different places and seen many different Pokémon, which gave him the ability to tell where a Pokémon was born.

Meanwhile in the Battle Factory, Factory Head Noland is still lying unconscious as his attacker finishes his research on the computer. He then leaves, commenting that he must hurry - he only has a seven-days timeframe to capture Jirachi, and two of those days have already passed. He is not able to move as he pleases because of all the press - which is why he planted all the berserk Pokémon in the different facilities, but it hasn't worked out as planned, because someone is interrupting his plans.
Emerald and Latias go on to explain that the E Shooter shoots soil taken from a certain place attached to a string at a Pokémon, which calms it down by making it remember where it came from. After calming down the Dusclops, Emerald goes to the other rooms and calms down more rampaging Pokémon with the E Shooter. After finishing, Latias flies off to somewhere else. The reporter confronts Emerald, asking him who is the person who planted all of the suspicious Pokémon in the Battle Pike.

Elsewhere in the Battle Frontier, Todd continues to confront Emerald with questions: Who is the mastermind behind this? What is his motive? Who sent Emerald to fight him? Why are Latias and Latios helping Emerald? Just as Emerald gets ready to answer, having found himself a place to sleep on the hill, someone grabs him by the collar. Todd thinks it might be the criminal, but it turns out to be Pyramid King, with the press not far behind. Brandon gives an order to turn on the lights, and Emerald realizes they're standing right next to the Battle Pyramid.
At the Battle Frontier (Generation III), Factory Head lies unconscious after being knocked out by the mysterious armored man. The man states that he must hurry, as two days have passed, leaving only five days left to capture Jirachi. He expresses distaste that because of the demonstration battle with Emerald, the large number of people at the Battle Frontier makes him unable to move about as he pleases. In addition to this, someone has been calming down the rampaging Pokémon he planted at the facilities. Despite this, the man challenges the person who has been predicting his tactics.

Brandon says he came to give Emerald some advice, and asks him how long it took him to complete the other facilities. Emerald answers that it took him around 15 hours for the Factory and 9 for the Pike. Brandon then climbs up the stairs to the entrance to his facility, and tosses Emerald into the darkness, where it's impossible to see anything. He then orders Emerald to get back up to the door, but it takes the boy a long time to find the way out. Brandon then tosses Emerald back in and tells him to leave again, to which Emerald replies that he memorized the way out. However, he soon discovers the way has changed. Brandon laughs and explains that the Battle Pyramid is a maze of darkness - a dungeon that rearranges its interior each time one enters it. As Emerald finds the way out again, Brandon warns his that it'll take him at least 24 hours to complete the Battle Pyramid, before he can even think about facing Brandon himself.
Elsewhere, Emerald looks for a place to sleep while the reporter begins bombarding him with questions. Emerald attempts to answer, but Pyramid King appears and grabs him by the collar. Brandon turns on the lights, revealing that they have been next to the Battle Frontier (Generation III) the entire time. Emerald doesn't care and tells Brandon to let him go, but Brandon asks him how long it took for him to beat the Battle Factory and Battle Pike. Emerald answers that it took 15 hours and nine hours, respectively.

Since Emerald was only given 7 total days to beat all seven facilities, he might as well start the Pyramid tonight - especially since daylight doesn't get inside the Pyramid anyway. Brandon then explains the rules of the facility - the challenger can bring along 3 Pokémon to help him find the way out in the darkness. Each time he finishes one maze, he advances to the next floor. After each set, the challenger is allowed to change Pokémon. Each set is achieved by reaching the top of the seven-floors pyramid. On the tenth set, Brandon will be waiting at the top floor. In the mazes, many different obstacles await, such as virtual Trainers wanting to battle. A Trainer enters the Pyramid without his backpack and cannot bring his Pokémon to recover anywhere. Instead, different items are scattered around the pyramid, and the challenger is free to pick them up. Brandon finally asks Emerald is he is ready to test his bravery, and Emerald replies that he's ready to take on the facility right away, as soon as he gets his Pokémon.
With that, Brandon throws Emerald into the Battle Pyramid, which is completely pitch-black. He commands Emerald to try and figure his way out, but Emerald is completely unable to because he can't see anything. Eventually, Emerald manages to get out, but Brandon throws him back inside again. Emerald attempts to use his memory of his previous trek to get out easily, but the room is different. Brandon reveals that the Battle Pyramid is a pitch-black maze that rearranges its interior every time someone enters it. Brandon tells Emerald that if he wants to complete this place, he will have to start immediately and prepare to spend over an entire day before doing so.

Todd and Emerald rush to the Pokémon Center, where Emerald chooses his three Pokémon: Alakazam, Shedinja, and Phanpy. When they return to the pyramid, Brandon decides to show Emerald the Pokémon that he'll be using in their final battle, if Emerald ever reaches it: the three legendary golems - Regirock, Regice, and Registeel.
Brandon explains that challengers can bring up to three Pokémon, and after completing a set, they can change their team if they wish to. With ten floors and seven sets, Emerald must climb seventy floors before he can finally challenge Brandon in battle. In addition, Emerald will have to face virtual Trainers during his climb. Lastly, Emerald cannot use his held items, but is free to take the items that have been left around the maze's floors. Despite the harshness of this challenge, Emerald refuses to back down. Brandon praises Emerald's bravery and tells the press to take as many pictures as they want.

As Emerald runs to the Pokémon Center, the reporter questions his decision to challenge the Battle Pyramid without getting a proper night's sleep. Emerald tells him not to worry as he chooses the Pokémon he will be using. Emerald finishes picking his team: an Alakazam, Shedinja, and Phanpy. After returning to the Battle Pyramid, Brandon decides to show off the team he will be using to battle Emerald. Brandon reveals his team—Regirock, Regice, and Registeel—and states that he will wait for Emerald at the seventh room of the tenth set.
