Escape!! (Japanese: 脱出!! Escape!!) is the 268th round of the Special manga and also the first one in the FireRed & LeafGreen chapter.  Due to rounds in this chapter of Pokémon Special not having official English names, Escape!! is merely a translation of the rough Japanese title.
The Escape or Escape! (Japanese: 脱出!! Escape!!) is the 268th round of the Pokémon Adventures manga and the first of the FireRed & LeafGreen.

This round goes into detail on some of the backstory revealed during the Gold, Silver and Crystal chapter. It was first published in February 2004 in Shōgakukan Grade 6 magazine and reprinted in that summer's second volume of Pokémon Wonderland. It was initially classified as a "lost chapter" as the authors announced it would not be published in a magazine again and would never be included in a volume. However, the round eventually found its place at the beginning of the FireRed and LeafGreen chapter.

Synopsis
Plot
Night has fallen across Johto. In a mountainous region, three buildings surrounded by an invisible barrier standing over a small hill with steep cliffs edges. As the alarm goes off, men dressed in black with masks covering their faces are seen on the roofs in a hurry, and frantically scan the area with the giant projectors. Struggling to stay hidden in the shadows, Blue takes Silver and runs along the corner of the tower-like construction.
spoilers
In a base, several people in masks shine searchlights over the area to look for people that have escaped. Two small children—one being a girl with long brown hair named Green and a red-haired boy named Silver—sneak past the lights. After getting past the lights, Green and Silver remove each other's masks. Although they struggle at first, they managed to remove their masks, which means that the Masked Man is at his weakest. Green, having never seen Silver's face before, comments on the young boy's appearance.

The two children along with their Pokémon - Jigglypuff and Sneasel, flatten themselves against a wall to catch their breath, and look at the projecters to be sure that they have been directed elsewhere. Blue, who apparently is in charge, decides that they are going to go away from the place.
In the present, Silver thinks to himself about how the Masked Men kidnapped several children, including himself. He notes that six of the children, dubbed the "Masked Children", were split into three groups of two and were trained to be the Masked Man's followers. Despite this, Silver and Green have always looked for a way to escape.

Trusting each other, Blue and Silver open each other's masks and throw themselves into a nearby bush. Blue allows a sigh of relief, because they are finally free from the clutches of the Mask of Ice.
In the past, Green and Silver have managed to get past the guards, but have to escape the barrier created by Psychic Pokémon. Using an underground passageway, Green and Silver try and sneak their way out of the area. They are quickly spotted by the other Masked Children, Carl, Sham, Will, and Karen, who chase after the two escapees. One of the attacks manages to hit Silver in the leg. Green activates a pipe that releases smoke, allowing the two to escape. Sham manages to see Green and Silver run away, and leads the other Masked Children to chase after them.

Among the Mask of ice's many followers, three boys and three girls received special attention. Grouped in groups of two, all six were together known as the "masked children", trained directly by the masked man as accomplices in their future. However, Blue and Silver had finally managed to escape.
The chase is stopped when they find that the door leads to a dead end. When the Masked Children leave to search for Green and Silver somewhere else, the thing blocking the door is revealed to be Green's Jigglypuff. Green and Silver continue their escape, where they encounter an ice sculpture of them and the other Masked Children. Green reveals that they are in the Masked Man's room, but are safe because the man will be too exhausted to move. In the present, Silver reveals that the Masked Man didn't know about the Poké Ball that could capture the Time Travel Pokémon, Celebi, which is why he would constantly lose to it every time he faced it.
Green decides to take the Silver and Rainbow Wings as mementos of their escape. After running through another hall, Green and Silver finally escape the Masked Man's clutches into the outside world. Elsewhere, Pryce, the Masked Man notices that Green and Silver have escaped. As he carves another sculpture of the Masked Children, Pryce berates the two for feeling lonely and states that they should have given up on those emotions ages ago. In the present, Silver states that after escaping, he and Green started a new life. Even though the Masked Man told them not give their Pokémon nicknames, Green eventually changed and named her Jigglypuff Jiggly.

Having gone through the training and residential blocks and gone beyond the tall building near the edge of the hill above, Blue guesses that they are safe. However, the entire area is guarded by a psychological barrier created by Pokémon, and the only way out is through underground tunnels that are connected to an adjacent mountain. Blue manages to quickly find the entrance to the tunnels in the bushes, and proceeds to move aside the heavy lid. The two children descend slowly along a ladder of iron, and soon reach the bottom. While moving with caution along the walls, Blue comments that they will have to rely on luck since then, as she has no idea about which is the right way out of the maze like structure. She also decides that they will have to pass by the Mask of ice's chamber if they are to escape.
Later, Silver and Green talk over the Pokégear. Green reveals that she is nervous, as it's the day she is going to meet her long-lost parents. When Silver asks if she got the new clothes he sent her, an embarrassed Green wonders if she will look nice in them. Silver encourages Green by stating that she'll look gorgeous in them. In the Johto region, Silver looks at handkerchief with his name on it. After putting it back into his pocket, Silver sets off to parts unknown. Six months have passed since the battle between Groudon and Kyogre.

Suddenly, they hear voices searching for them and start to run for their lives. Unfortunately, the other four children in masks, Chermaine, Keane, Will and Karen, manage to catch up with them, and attacks them with their Pokémon. Blue frantically turns her face, and commands Silver to do the same lest the others manage to see their real faces. Keane's Houndour and Will's Natu attack with an ember and a Psychic combo, and Karen's Meowth and Chermaine's Eevee rapidly follow with a Scratch and a bite. The attacks manage to hit and knock Silver. Blue hastily presses the fire-emergency button on the wall, and a sprinkler on the roof fills the room with smoke.

The four masked children are momentarily stunned and suffocated by the dense gas, and Blue takes the opportunity to run off with Silver. As the smoke clears, the four children hurry after Blue and Silver, but soon discovered that the tunnel leads to a dead end with a wall of pink. Will says that he did see the next two going through that place, but Chermaine starts doubting him. Karen decides to try another tunnel, and the four back off and continue their search.

Slowly, the pink wall deflects, and Blue's Jigglypuff materializes. They realize happily that they have manged to be ridden of their pursuers. Suddenly, the image of the Mask of ice along with the six masked children materializes. The two step back in fear. In a closer look, they realize that it is just a giant ice sculpure of the mask of ice and the six children in masks and Blue realizes that they have reached the masked man's own secret chamber.

Silver is still concerned and wonders where the mask of ice is. Blue shows that the masked man is actually resting right behind the curtain at the other end of the room, but Silver says that man is too weak to move. She explains that once in several months, the mask of ice experiences a day of weakness, and this evening is one of those. As Blue and Silver make their way through the masked man's chamber, Blue reveals that the escape was only part of her plan, and begins searching masked man's desk. She soon finds the legendary Rainbow and Silver Wings on a pen-foot, and quickly activates the two bright feathers. She smiles to Silver and declares that they are going with the two items. Resuming their way through the tunnel to the other side of the room, Blue and Silver see the light gradually fade away, and realize that their life away from the Mask of Ice is just about to start. The next morning, Pryce slams his new sculpture in ice after hearing Chermaine, Keane, Will and Karen's report about the escape of Blue and Silver. With an immensly angry look on his face, the Mahogany Town Gym leader, who mostly wears a mask to be the "mask of ice", turns around his wheelchair, and curses the escapers.

As he stops reminiscing about the night Blue and himself escaped from the mask of ice, Silver decides to call Blue, and sits in front of a laptop computer to access the visual-telephone system with its Pokégear. Knowing that Blue will be finally able to meet her parents that day, he asked how it feels. Blue then admits to feeling nervous. Silver wants to know if she likes the new dress that he sent her, and explains that he chose specifically for her important day. Blue says that they looks nice and thanks silver.

Later, standing in front of the Tin Tower, Silver has another look at its white hankerchief that has stitched his name on it. He calls Sneasel, and says that it is time to go. The red haired boy then calls his Murkrow, with the help of which, he Fly, leaving the historic city of Ecruteak.
