VS. Pelipper II (Japanese: Vs. ペリッパー II VS. Pelipper II or 意外なる救援 Unlikely Savior) is the 215th round of the Pokémon Adventures manga in the Ruby & Sapphire arc.
Synopsis
The chapter opens with a recap of the legend of Kyogre and Groudon, explaining how long ago, the two ancient Pokémon of the sea and land fought one another for dominance of the world, and vanished into the depths of the sea to rest when their battle finally ended. In the modern day, an Absol watches as the sea level rises slightly, and the people of Lavaridge Town panic over the death of the city's famous hot springs.
Atop Mt. Chimney, Amber is thrilled by the power of the meteorite that allowed their machine to stop the volcano. With their mission complete, Team Aqua disappear via Amber's Carvanha's Secret Power, taking Professor Starstone with them. Sapphire follows them into the cavern that Secret Power opened inside the mountain, and Flannery, left outside, calls to her before swearing to join the fight to avenge the death of the volcano. Using her Magcargo's Flamethrower, Flannery tries to inject energy back into the volcano, but it does nothing. Suddenly, however, a voice behind her tells her that it's simply not enough heat energy to get the job done, and Flannery finds herself joined by a mysterious stranger--Mitch of Team Magma!
Flannery has no idea who the newcomer is, and angrily demands whether he's part of the same gang as the people who killed the volcano. Mitch cordially denies this, saying that's quite the opposite of his motivations, and that he and Flannery (whom he calls "little lady") are on the same side.
Down below, Sapphire feels a slight increase of heat inside the volcano, and wonders whether Flannery's trying to restore its energy. She calls out that more heat will revive it, and Mitch tells Flannery that the best way to put heat energy back into the volcano is by burning coal. He calls out his Torkoal, and together with Flannery's Magcargo, they blast the coal with fire, creating a massive fireball that completely destroys Team Aqua's machine and sends its wreckage crumbling down into the caldera.
