The story starts in [[Hoenn]] region, where a wild {{p|Duskull}}, {{p|Volbeat}}, {{p|Beautifly}} and {{p|Cacnea}} are seen attacking someone. The person opens a Poké Ball, and releases a Pokémon that easily defeats them without being seen. The person is revealed to be [[Norman]], the new Gym Leader of Petalburg City, who is being interviewed by [[Gabby and Ty|Gabby and Ty]].


==Synopsis==
Norman's wife watches as she drives a moving truck to her new home in Hoenn with her son in the back. She calls to her son that his father is on television, but guesses that he wouldn't want to see in the first place. In the back of the truck, a young man named {{adv|Ruby}} dolls up his three Pokémon: a {{p|Poochyena}} named [[Nana]], a {{p|Skitty}} named [[Kiki]], and a {{p|Ralts}} named [[Rara]].
{{Adv|Ruby}} is moving from [[Goldenrod City]] in [[Johto]] to [[Littleroot Town]] in [[Hoenn]].
 
Ruby notices that a piece of Nana's fur is too long compared to the other, so he cuts it to make both sides match. Suddenly, the truck gets stuck in mud and comes to a screeching halt. Ruby's mother tells him to come outside and help, but Ruby refuses due to the thought of his Pokémon getting dirty.
 
Instead, Ruby opts for having Rara use her {{m|Confusion}} technique to move the truck out of the mud. Ruby opens the back of the truck to see Hoenn for the first time, where he considers it to be just like his Pokémon: beautiful.
