Plot
The chapter starts with Green entering the Silph Co. building, which is being held by Team Rocket. She arrives at the third floor, but falls right into a trap set by Sabrina. Her Psychic Pokémon cause Green to have the illusion of a nightmarish world, but she is unfazed. Instead, she sends out her Blastoise, and orders it to attack Sabrina. However, Sabrina uses her Kadabra to Teleport behind Green. After revealing that she created the barrier around Saffron City, she uses Kadabra's Psychic to knock Green's Poké Balls off of her waist. Kadabra then nearly kills the Blastoise, but when the blow is dealt, it turns out that it was merely Green's Ditto. She sends out the real Blastoise, which quickly deals with the Kadabra using Mega Punch. Now Green sends out Horsea. Horsea uses SmokeScreen to create a blanket of smoke around them, making seeing impossible for the Gym Leader. She watches Sabrina carefully through a pair of special goggles.

With Red and Blue facing off against Lt. Surge and Koga, respectively, Green is free to enter the Silph Co. building unfettered to accomplish her own objectives. However, when she enters a room on the third floor, she finds herself apparently outside where a large tower stands in the background. The scenario is revealed by Sabrina to be an Hypnosis generated by her Psychic Pokémon, forcing Green to live her deepest fears. In retaliation Green releases her Blastoise to battle, but Sabrina's Kadabra outmaneuvers with Teleport before knocking it down with Psychic. Sneering at Green for immediately using her strongest Pokémon, Sabrina has Kadabra hold Blasty in a Disable before delivering a blow that shatters its shell.

Back on the first floor, Lt. Surge is killing Red with electricity. He hurls him against the wall. When Red tries to retaliate with his Ivysaur, Lt. Surge tells Zapdos to use ThunderShock on Red, Ivysaur and Pika. They are immobilized, with Ivysaur nearly passing out. When Surge orders Zapdos to go for the kill and use all of its energy, Ivysaur uses Razor Leaf to rip a tear in the corrupt Gym Leader's insulated jumpsuit. All of the electricity goes directly into his body, leaving him knocked out. Red takes the Thunder, as well as the rubber gloves that he was wearing, and goes up to the second floor, where he sees Blue about to be killed.
However, Green promptly sends out another Poké Ball, surprising Sabrina when its contents are revealed to be the real Blasty, who strikes Kadabra down with a Mega Punch. The other Blasty reveals itself as Green's Ditty. Using her Horsea to release Smokescreen and wearing her modified Silph Scope, Green starts to taunt Sabrina in the dark as she prepares her counterattack.

Back on the first floor, Lt. Surge continues to torment Red with his electric blasts and manages to defeat Pika. Red's attempt to fight back with Saur seems equally hopeless, until Red has Saur redirect the leaves it scattered from its Razor Leaf at Lt. Surge and Zapdos. The attack not only severs the wires directing Zapdos's electric power away from Lt. Surge, but also ruptures the Gym Leader's insulated suit, giving him a crippling dose of Zapdos's electricity that promptly knocks him out cold. Red congratulates Saur on a job well done and then pockets the Thunder and Lt. Surge's electric-proof gloves, leaving the defeated elite agent with a warning on the undefeatable strength of a bond between a Trainer and his Pokémon.

With Red and Blue facing off against Lt. Surge and Koga, respectively, Green is free to enter the Silph Co. building unfettered to accomplish her own objectives. However, when she enters a room on the third floor, she finds herself apparently outside where a large tower stands in the background. The scenario is revealed by Sabrina to be an illusion generated by her Psychic Pokémon, forcing Green to live her deepest fears.

Red congratulates Saur on a job well done and then pockets the Thunder Badge and Lt. Surge's electric-proof gloves, leaving the defeated elite agent with a warning on the undefeatable strength of a bond between a Trainer and his Pokémon.

Free to go up to the second floor, Red arrives just in time before the unconscious Blue is about to receive another attack from Golbat.
