With Red and Blue facing off against Lt. Surge and Koga, Green is free to enter the Silph Co. building unfettered to accomplish her own objectives. However, when she enters a room at the third floor, she finds herself apparently outside where a large tower stands in the background. The scenario is revealed by Sabrina to be an illusion generated by her Psychic Pokémon, forcing Green to live her deepest fears. In retaliation Green releases her Blastoise to do battle, but Sabrina's Kadabra outmaneuvers with Teleport before knocking it down with Psychic. Sneering at Green for immediately using her strongest Pokémon, Sabrina has Kadabra hold Blasty in a Disable before delivering a blow that shatters its shell.

However, Green promptly sends out another Poké Ball, surprising Sabrina when its contents are revealed to be the real Blasty, who strikes Kadabra down with a Mega Punch; the other Blasty revealing itself as Green's Ditty. Using her Horsea to release SmokeScreen and wearing her modified Silph Scope, Green starts to taunt Sabrina in the dark as she prepares her counterattack...

Back at the first floor, Lt. Surge continues to torment Red with his electric blasts, and knocking out Pika. Red's attempt to fight back with Saur seems equally hopeless, until Red has Saur redirect the leaves it scattered from its Razor Leaf at Lt. Surge and Zapdos. The attack not only severs the wires directing Zapdos' electric power away from Surge, but also ruptures the Gym Leader's insulated suit, giving him a crippling dose of Zapdos' electricity that promptly knocks him out cold. Red congratulates Saur on a job well done before pocketing the Thunder Badge and Surge's electric-proof gloves, leaving the defeated elite agent with a warning on the undefeatable strength of a bond between a Trainer and his Pokémon.

Free to go up to the second floor, Red arrives just in time before the unconscious Blue is about to receive another attack from Golbat...
