Pikachu's PikaBoo (Japanese: ピカチュウのドキドキかくれんぼ Pikachu's Exciting Hide-and-seek) is the tenth Pikachu short. It was aired alongside Celebi: The Voice of the Forest.

Synopsis
The short starts off with Pikachu and friends at a beach. Pikachu and Misty run into the water as the tide recedes and run away when the tide comes in. Totodile is having fun in the shallow water, kicking it around. Misty is floating in an inner tube before a huge wave knocks it out of the water. Meanwhile, Bayleef and Cyndaquil are having a nice rest in a shady spot near the beach. That is, until Totodile uses its Water Gun to wake up Cyndaquil. Cyndaquil then begins playfully chasing after Totodile.

Four Corsola walk by and an interested Togepi follows after them and into the ocean. Pikachu saw Togepi and raced over to try to help it. Luckily for Pikachu, a Wailmer was there. It lifted Togepi on its back and shot it into the air. A Yanma flew by, catching Togepi on its back, and set it back down on dry land. Once Yanma flew away, the gang chased after it, seeing a mansion as they did.

At the mansion, a Larvitar, Kecleon, and Granbull are all making sure that the mansion and garden are clean and safe. Larvitar first spots a chair that is leaning over and tells Granbull to fix it. Then it spots a rock that has fallen off a plant holder, which it fixes itself. Just then, the gang shows up. Togepi follows a few Sunkern, bouncing up and down with them. However, Togepi lost its balance, and knocked over the rock Larvitar just fixed. Larvitar looked angrily at Togepi, but Pikachu was right there to defend it. Unlike Larvitar, Granbull and Kecleon seemed happy to find new friends. Granbull called out to the Pokémon in the garden. Sunflora, Oddish, Sandshrew, Azurill, and Donphan came running over, introducing themselves to the gang.
spoilers

When Pikachu tried to get Larvitar to come over, Larvitar walked off in a huff. Pikachu, although distraught, decided it would be fun to play a game of hide n' seek. The other Pokémon happily joined in. Pikachu picked up a small stick with a leaf hanging on one side and tossed it into the air. As the Pokémon tried to blow the stick away from themselves, the song Pikachu's Coming started to play in the background. Finally, the leaf fell and landed toward Pikachu.

Pikachu and his friends are at a beach. Pikachu and Misty run into the water as the tide recedes and run away when the tide comes in. Totodile is having fun in the shallow water, kicking it around. Misty is floating in an inner tube before a huge wave knocks it out of the water. Bayleef and Cyndaquil are napping, until Totodile uses its Water Gun to blast Cyndaquil, making Cyndaquil chase after him.

The first one to hide was Oddish, who dug a hole in the ground and hid so that only its leaves were showing. Bulbasaur ran by Azurill and set down Togepi. Granbull and Cyndaquil ran past, so Togepi decided to follow after Cyndaquil.
Four Corsola walk by, and Togepi follows them, into the ocean. Pikachu sees Togepi and races over to try to help it; luckily for Pikachu, a Wailmer appears and launches Togepi into the air with a water spray. A passing Yanma flies by, catching Togepi on its back, and sets it down on dry land. Once Yanma flies away, the gang chases after it, coming upon a massive mansion.

Meanwhile, Sunflora was trying to find a place to hide. It hid in the wrong types of flowers, making Sandshrew laugh. It hid in another type of flower, but that was wrong, too, so Kecleon laughed. Kecleon was then seen hiding behind a small column and turning itself invisible. Bulbasaur was shown under the ground.
At the mansion, a Larvitar, Kecleon, and Granbull are patrolling the garden, with Larvitar in charge. Larvitar orders Granbull to right a fallen chair, then fixes a rock on a planter, when the gang shows up. Togepi follows a few Sunkern, bouncing up and down with them into the open, knocking over the rock that Larvitar fixed, making Larvitar angry. Pikachu and the gang run out to defend Togepi. Unlike Larvitar, Granbull and Kecleon seem happy to find new friends. Granbull barks loudly, calling out a Sunflora, Oddish, Sandshrew, Azurill, and Donphan, who introduce themselves. Larvitar wants no part in the camaraderie and walks away.

The screen then switched to Totodile dancing along a few platforms, and Donphan desperately trying to find a good place to hide. Granbull, Togepi, Cyndaquil, Psyduck, and Azurill were seen running toward a flight of stairs and then straight up them. They then came to another flight of stairs that only Granbull and Cyndaquil ran up. Togepi and Psyduck went off to the left and Azurill ran off to the right.
To start off the fun, Pikachu picks up a small stick with a leaf hanging on one side and tosses it into the air. The others try to blow the leaf away from themselves. Finally, the leaf falls and lands towards Pikachu. Pikachu was 'it' and runs to start counting. All of the other Pokémon run to hide, all but Togepi, who wanted to count with Pikachu. However, Bulbasaur picks Togepi up with its vines and runs off. Oddish hides first, pretending to be a plant in the ground. The others quickly follow suit and soon all of them are hidden, with Donphan and Psyduck having difficulties. Larvitar sits this game out, still disgruntled. As soon as Pikachu is finished the counting, he runs off down a small flight of stone stairs, with Larvitar looking on, still angry.

Togepi was seen in a small room near a couch. It looked out the window and waved 'hi' to the Yanma. Cyndaquil and Granbull were in a hallway. Azurill ran across a small platform with a goofy grin on its face. Psyduck tried to squeeze its head in a small space in what seemed to be a kitchen, but it was to no avail. It tried once again to place its head between a counter and refrigerator, but it was still no good. Then Cyndaquil and Granbull are shown in a sort of living room. Cyndaquil found a small space it was able to fit in; however, Granbull tried to also fit in, causing Cyndaquil to run away.
Meanwhile, MTR and Jessie are mowing the lawns in the garden. As soon as Meowth states that they have the easiest job, the lawnmower breaks down, so Meowth decides he's finished mowing the lawn.

Granbull is shown having a hard time trying to fit into the tight space. It then used its cheeks to push the dresser and make the space larger so it was able to fit. Azurill is seen outside in a small pond-like enclosure, hiding under the water. Finally, Psyduck is seen struggling to fit into a small space.
Pikachu is now searching for the other Pokémon, looking through the garden. Pikachu wanders into the sunflower garden bed and finds Sunflora there, posing as a sunflower, and Sunflora becomes the first one out. Pikachu then finds Sandshrew backed against a brick wall pretending to be part of the wall. Sandshrew is the next Pokémon out. Pikachu soon finds Totodile, posing as part of a water feature in the garden, hiding underwater and shooting water up.

The camera shows the whole mansion while Yanma flies by. As soon as Pikachu is finished the counting, the song ends and Pikachu runs off down a small flight of stone stairs. Larvitar is seen from the corner of the screen, looking angrily at Pikachu. It picks up the stick Pikachu had thrown into the air and observes it.
Pikachu continues his search, when Larvitar suddenly pushes Donphan down a cliff and at Pikachu. Pikachu was able to escape the Donphan; however, Donphan wasn't so lucky and fell straight into a bush. Sadly, Donphan becomes the fourth Pokémon out.

Meanwhile, MTR and Jessie are seen mowing the lawn in the garden. As soon as Meowth states that it was the easiest job, the lawnmower breaks down, so Meowth claims it was the end of mowing the lawn.
Pikachu then decides to look inside the mansion. He enters toward the living room first and spots Togepi on the couch, hiding in its shell and pretending to be a pillow. Pikachu tickles Togepi, getting it to come out. Togepi who was happy to be found by Pikachu gave it a bug hug. Pikachu and Togepi then comes to a small fireplace, where he sees the blue fur of a Cyndaquil who was using its flame to act like it's the fire of a fireplace. Pikachu and Togepi calls it out and Cyndaquil was the sixth Pokémon out. Pikachu soon discovers Granbull and Psyduck as well.

Pikachu is then searching for the other Pokémon, looking through the garden. Pikachu makes it to the sunflower section and walks in, looking for the Pokémon. It then notices Sunflora and decides to trick it by turning away. Once Sunflora turns to look at Pikachu, Pikachu looks back at it and catches it, making Sunflora the first Pokémon out. Pikachu then walks through what seems like a maze and sees something unusual about the end of one wall. Once the wall moves around, Pikachu found out that it's really Sandshrew. Sandshrew is the next Pokémon out.
Meanwhile, Larvitar angrily kicks a rock, which flies through the air and straight into the out-of-order lawnmower, turning it on and sending it tearing through the garden. Donphan and Bulbasaur, who emerges from its hiding place, attack the lawnmower, redirecting it, then Donphan charges at it, but gets blasted into the air. The lawnmower continues chasing everyone, almost running Oddish down, who hadn't been found yet. Pikachu runs outside and uses Thunderbolt on the lawnmower, which briefly turns off, but then turns itself back on and unleashes some chainsaws to its sides. Totodile hits the lawnmower with a Water Gun and Cyndaquil chases it down using Flamethrower, but the lawnmower jumps behind Cyndaquil, gaining the upper hand.

Pikachu makes its way toward a fountain and looks around it, noticing a miniature fountain that isn't supposed to be there. Pikachu holds its breath and looks under the water. A Chinchou swam by and toward Totodile who was making the water fly into the air. Pikachu took its head out from under the water and ran over to be closer to Totodile. It then stopped the water and tickling Totodile's nose and making it come out. Totodile was the next Pokémon out.
As Meowth and Wobbuffet are preparing to clean the chimneys, they're beset by the rogue lawnmower. They run into the water, jumping across some islands, but the lawnmower chases them and mows down their chimney sweepers, although it breaks off its own chainsaws in the process, and sending them blasting off to land in the chminey.

The screen switches to Larvitar near Donphan. Pikachu walked by and Larvitar hid behind Donphan. It then got the idea to push Donphan, so it pushed the Donphan down the cliff and at Pikachu. Pikachu was able to escape the Donphan, however, Donphan wasn't so lucky and fell straight into a bush. Sadly, Donphan knew it was the fourth Pokémon out.
The lawnmower is now back to chasing all the other Pokémon, through a hedge maze. The Pokémon reach a dead end, resulting in a very close call for them, but they manage to escape. Eventually, Larvitar shows up and helps them out of the maze, then dropkicks the lawnmower, breaking it and shutting it down. The Pokémon casually walk out of the hedges, but suddenly the lawnmower bursts through the hedge, now with buzzsaws to its sides. They run away and climb up a tree, but the lawnmower cuts down the tree using the saws and continues pursuing them. The lawnmower chases them to the end of a short pier. All the Pokémon move out of the way just in time and cause the lawnmower dives right into the ocean, and Pikachu and Larvitar triumphantly throw some logs at it.

Pikachu then took a look inside of the mansion. It decided to head toward the living room first and saw Togepi on the couch, hiding in its shell. Pikachu tickled Togepi, getting it to come out. Togepi was the fifth Pokémon out. Togepi followed Pikachu around as Pikachu came to a small fireplace. Pikachu took one look and saw the blue fur of a Cyndaquil who was using its flame to act the fireplace was only lit. Pikachu called it out and Cyndaquil was the sixth Pokémon out.
Shockingly, the lawnmower starts itself up yet again, while underwater, and destroys the pier. The mower chases Pikachu and Togepi while all the other Pokémon come up with a plan to use firewood to make short pieces of track which force the lawnmower to make turns. This strategy works well until Psyduck trips up and fails to set its part of the track, but Bayleef suddenly intervenes and uses Vine Whip to throw the lawnmower back onto a track. They continue using logs to lead the lawnmower into a tool shed, where they shut and lock the door on it. After some ruckus inside the tool shed, they open the door to find that the lawnmower has finally been permanently shut down and will need repairs.

Meanwhile, Larvitar was angrily kicking the ground. It kicked a small pebble straight into the out of order lawnmower, causing it to go on the loose. Fortunately, Larvitar was able to avoid the lawnmower both times it came at it. Bulbasaur was nearly ran over. Pikachu and the Pokémon in the mansion saw the lawnmower chase down Sunflora and Sunkern as if it had a mind of its own. Both Bulbasaur and Donphan ran over to the lawnmower. Bulbasaur tried a Razor Leaf to stop it, but it only made the lawnmower turn toward Donphan and Bulbasaur. Donphan tried to stop it with Rollout, but the lawnmower bust right through it.
Back in the garden, Kecleon comes out of hiding to find that everyone had stopped looking for it, making it the winner of the round, although it seemed confused of why Pikachu hadn't found it.

The lawnmower chased Pikachu, Totodile, Cyndaquil, and Togepi down a hill. Oddish popped out from under the ground and turned to see the lawnmower. It, too, took off. Pikachu was the first to stand and fight, using Thunderbolt. The lawnmower was unfazed and simply brought out its chainsaws. Next, Totodile tried to fight it with a Water Gun, but that didn't even slow the lawnmower down. Afterwards, Cyndaquil tried to use Flamethrower, but somehow the lawnmower moved out of the way. Cyndaquil chased it with Flamethrower, but the lawnmower jumped over each one until it landed behind Cyndaquil.
The Pokémon work together to place the firewood back where it was before, and Bulbasaur and Bayleef trim some hedges into some topiaries of Onix, two Pichu, Pikachu, and Togepi. Larvitar and Togepi fix the stones that Larvitar was working on before. Back inside the mansion, Meowth and Wobbuffet fall through the chimney, and Meowth comments that they got the chimney sweeping done. The Pokémon start a new game of hide and seek, with Larvitar graciously accepting his role of 'it'.

The camera switched to an unwary Meowth and Wobbuffet who were going to sweep out the chimneys. Meowth heard Pikachu yelling and turned to see some of the Pokémon running toward him. Once the gang ran past them, the lawnmower came at Meowth and Wobbuffet, chasing them down. Meowth and Wobbuffet tried to use the sweeps to stop the lawnmower, but the chainsaws cut the sweeps down. The lawnmower used its whole body to fling Meowth and Wobbuffet into a chimney.

The camera moves to a small field with bushes on either side. Pikachu is seen at the beginning, running from the lawnmower. Cyndaquil and Totodile ran from the lawnmower. Then Oddish, Sunflora, Granbull, and Azurill ran from the lawnmower. Psyduck ran across the screen from nothing. Soon afterwards, Bulbasaur, Sandshrew, and Donphan were seen running from the lawnmower with Psyduck running in the opposite direction. Psyduck tripped and fell, immediately standing up and running. Pikachu and Togepi were shown running from the lawnmower, and Psyduck was running from nothing again.

Pikachu, Togepi, Granbull, Cyndaquil, and Totodile were seen running through a maze to get away from the runaway lawnmower. They, unfortunately, ran to a dead end. Right before the lawnmower ran at them, they made a break for it down the opposite way. The camera showed the whole maze and the gang running through it with the lawnmower after them every step of the way. Finally, the gang came across Larvitar who told them to follow it. They turned a corner and Larvitar waited for the lawnmower to come by. Once it did, Larvitar kicked the lawnmower to a dead end.

The lawnmower got stuck there and the gang walked off. Once out of the maze, the gang thought they were safe. However, the lawnmower got out using some new equipment and tore through the maze, once again chasing after the gang. They ran toward a flower pot and a tree with a swing attached. Granbull jumped onto the flower pot, whereas Pikachu, Togepi, Cyndaquil, Totodile, and Larvitar ran up the tree. The lawnmower used its circular saws to cut down the tree and continue chasing after the gang. The only ones left behind were Granbull, Totodile, and Cyndaquil.

Togepi, Pikachu, and Larvitar continued to run from the lawnmower. They ran across a dock and toward the end where the ocean stopped them from going any further. Right before the lawnmower hit them, they grabbed onto the poles keeping the dock from going under. The lawnmower diced through the poles and into the water where Togepi, Pikachu, and Larvitar thought they were safe. However, the lawnmower came out of the water and continued its chase. Meanwhile, the commotion woke Bayleef up.

Finally, Larvitar had an idea and called the Pokémon to its side. The lawnmower chased after Pikachu and Togepi as Larvitar and the others put logs down to keep the lawnmower on a track. Larvitar called Pikachu over and Pikachu was able to get the lawnmower to chase it up the track the Pokémon had made. It was all going smoothly until Psyduck ran over with one of the logs and tripped. The log flew at the lawnmower and knocked it off course, and it charged towards Psyduck.

Luckily Bayleef was there and used Vine Whip to fling the lawnmower back on course. Finally, the lawnmower was headed right for the shed outside. Once inside, Pikachu and Larvitar shut the doors. The lawnmower was heard struggling around as the Pokémon looked to the shed in anticipation. The doors opened again and the lawnmower slowly wheeled out, falling apart right in front of them. The Pokémon rejoiced.

Meanwhile, Kecleon was still hiding behind the column. It turned itself visible again and looked around, confused as to why Pikachu hadn't found it yet.

The camera showed the Pokémon cleaning up the garden after the lawnmower wrecked it.

Meowth and Wobbuffet are seen getting out of the chimney. Finally, after a long day, Larvitar decided to join in a game of hide n' seek. When it threw the stick into the air, the leaf fell off, so all of the Pokémon started to blow on the leaf. The leaf finally landed and pointed to Larvitar. Larvitar took it well and began to count. Togepi, again, tried to count as well, but Pikachu took Togepi away. The camera pans out to show the sunset sky and the ocean, ending the short.

At a giant beachside mansion, Pikachu and some of its buddies decide to play a game of hide-and-seek. Pikachu is “it,” and it goes off in search of its friends. Meanwhile, Larvitar, sick of being all by itself, kicks a rock in anger. The rock hurtles through the air—and hits a lawnmower, turning it on and sending it tearing off after Pikachu and its friends! The group draws the lawnmower into a maze and even gets it into the water, but the lawnmower just keeps on chasing. The Pokémon build a road out of logs, hoping to get the lawnmower into a shack, but Psyduck trips and ruins the whole setup. How will the friends ever escape the lawnmower? This fantasy will have you on the edge of your seat!

Plot

Pikachu and his friends are at a beach. Pikachu and Togepi run into the water as the tide recedes and run away when the tide comes in. Totodile is having fun in the shallow water, kicking it around. Psyduck is floating in an inner tube before a huge wave knocks it out of the water. Bayleef and Cyndaquil are napping, until Totodile uses its Water Gun to blast Cyndaquil, making Cyndaquil chase after him.

Meanwhile, Meowth and Wobbuffet are mowing the lawns in the garden. As soon as Meowth states that they have the easiest job, the lawnmower breaks down, so Meowth decides he's finished mowing the lawn.

Back in the garden, Kecleon comes out of hiding to find that everyone had stopped looking for it, making it the winner of the round, although it seemed confused of why Pikachu hadn't found it.
