The Navel Gym (Japanese: ネーブルジム Navel Gym) is the official Gym of Navel Island. The Gym Leader is Danny. Trainers who meet his challenges receive the Sea Ruby Badge.

In the anime

The Navel Gym made its only anime appearance in Navel Maneuvers.

The Navel Gym isn't a building and instead spans the entire mountain on Navel Island. Unlike most Gyms, there is no battling involved at this Gym. Instead, Danny makes Trainers participate in several mountaineering challenges, including scaling the mountain without the aid of any Pokémon as an entrance test before the actual rounds begin, lest they be disqualified.

To win the coveted Sea Ruby Badge, a challenger must win in two of three of the following speed tests. In the first round, a challenger must freeze a natural geyser the fastest. Next, the ice made from freezing the geyser water must be crafted into bobsleds, with each side using three Pokémon to accomplish this in another test of speed. Finally, in the third round, the Gym Leader and challenger race down the mountain in their newly-constructed bobsleds with the aid of three Pokémon each for avoiding obstacles and enhancing speed.

Pokémon used in Gym

		Nidoqueen ♀
		Danny's Nidoqueen was used by him in the first challenge against Ash. Using Ice Beam, she was able to quickly freeze the water coming out of the geyser in order to beat Lapras. Nidoqueen's physical strength was then used to help carve out a sled from Danny's slab of ice in the second challenge. She reappeared in flashbacks in A Way Off Day Off and Hello, Pummelo!. Nidoqueen's only known move is Ice Beam.

		Machoke
		Danny's Machoke was only seen in the second challenge against Ash, where it helped to carve a sled from the ice that Nidoqueen froze earlier. It reappeared in a flashback in Hello, Pummelo!. None of Machoke's moves are known.

		Scyther
		Scyther was the only one of Danny's Pokémon to be in both the second and third challenges. It first helped carve the block ice into a sled after which it then helped steer that sled in the race down the mountain. It reappeared in flashbacks in A Way Off Day Off and Hello, Pummelo!. None of Scyther's moves are known.

		Electrode
		Electrode was one of Danny's Pokémon that was used in the third challenge, the race down the mountain. It used its weight to help steer and it also used Explosion to ward off Team Rocket. It reappeared in flashbacks in A Way Off Day Off and Hello, Pummelo!. Electrode's only known move is Explosion.

		Geodude
		Geodude was only seen during the race down the mountain. Besides using its weight to help steer the sled, Geodude also had a powerful throw in the snowball fight to defend against Team Rocket. It reappeared in flashbacks in A Way Off Day Off and Hello, Pummelo!. None of Geodude's moves are known.

The Navel Gym made a brief cameo appearance in You Bet Your Wife, where Ash was seen exiting the Gym, having just won himself his third Orange League Gym Badge.
