Reason: locations, buy and sell prices

As in the core series games, the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series makes use of evolutionary items. These are often unique to the Mystery Dungeon world and are used in place of main series methods not viable for use in Mystery Dungeon. Unless otherwise noted, all of these items sell for 1 Poké.

List of items

Beauty Scarf

The Beauty Scarf is used in place of leveling up a Pokémon whose Beauty is maxed out, as it is not possible in these games. In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, it can be found in a locked chamber in Western Cave's B59F.

Coronet Rock

The Coronet Rock is used in place of leveling up a Pokémon in Mt. Coronet or Chargestone Cave. Such a rock may be purchased from a Kecleon Shop.

Frozen Rock

The Frozen Rock is used in place of leveling up a Pokémon near an Ice Rock. Such a rock may be purchased from a Kecleon Shop.

Link Cable

The Link Cable takes the place of the physical Game Link Cables used to evolve Pokémon in Generations I, II, and III. It is found in Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team in various dungeons in lieu of scripted items that player already has. Pokémon that are typically evolved by trading are evolved using this item, as trading is treated differently in the Mystery Dungeon games and Pokémon themselves cannot be traded. The following Pokémon will evolve when a Link Cable is used (some Pokémon will evolve when the Link Cable is used in conjunction with another item):

Lunar Ribbon

The Lunar Ribbon is used in place of leveling up a Pokémon at nighttime. In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, it can only be found on the 20th floor of Northwind Field. Even when found, players still need a key to open the chamber that the Ribbon is locked inside. In Explorers of Time and Darkness, it remains rare, and can only be obtained on Zero Isle North, East, West and South. Pokémon evolved with the Lunar Ribbon need other requirements fulfilled before the evolution can take place.

Mossy Rock

The Mossy Rock is used in place of leveling up a Pokémon near a Moss Rock.

Sun Ribbon

The Sun Ribbon is used in place of leveling up a Pokémon at daytime. In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, it can only be found on the 20th floor of Wyvern Hill. Even when found, players still need a key to open the chamber that the Ribbon is locked inside. In Explorers of Time and Darkness, it can be found in the Golden Chamber's Treasure Boxes. Pokémon evolved with the Sun Ribbon need other requirements fulfilled before the evolution can take place.
