Musharna (Japanese: ムシャーナ Musharna) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon introduced in Generation V.

It evolves from Munna when exposed to a Moon Stone.

Biology

Musharna awake

Physiology

Musharna is a rounded, pig- or tapir-like Pokémon, with a beige head that is separated from its purple body by a petal-like rounded pattern distinction. It has oval pink markings on its cheeks; the tips of its stubby limbs are also colored pink, as is the Dream Mist that comes out of its forehead. Since its eyes, which have discernible eyelashes, have been seen closed and its body in a curled position, it conveys the impression that it can be commonly seen asleep.

Gender differences

None.

Special abilities

Musharna can make the dreams they've eaten materialize in the form of a pink mist. When this mist is looked at, the contents of the dream can be seen.

Behavior

Musharna often sleeps, and while it is sleeping, Dream Mist comes out of its forehead. It awakes to find dreamers and eat their dreams.

Habitat

Diet

It eats the dreams of Pokémon and people. The mist emitted from its forehead changes form into the things present in the dream.

Trivia

  • Musharna is the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 487.

Origin

Musharna appears to be based on traditional Japanese incense burners called koro. These are used in traditional tea ceremonies, but many styles of koro have been developed to be used with insect repellent incense. These insect repellent koro are popularly shaped like a pig. Musharna, like Drowzee, also seems to share some inspiration from the myth of the Baku, tapir-like creatures that eat dreams. Its curled up, sleeping appearance is similar to that of a fetus.

Name origin

Musharna may came from mushamusha (munch, crunch), referring to the fact that it "eats" dreams, and "luna" meaning "moon". The "Mu" could also come from 夢 (dream), as in 夢想 musō (dream, vision).

In other languages

Language Name Name Origin
German Somnivora From somnium and vorare.
French Mushana Same as the Japanese name, but without the "r".
Korean 몽얌나 Mong-yamna
Chinese 夢夢蝕 Mèng Mèng Shí Similar to Munna's Chinese name 食夢夢 Shí Mèng Mèng. can also refer to "eclipse".
