Mt. Silver, also known as Silver Cave (Japanese: シロガネやま Mt. Shirogane) is a large mountain in Johto located west of Victory Road and Indigo Plateau. Mt. Silver can be reached from Kanto via 28 after receiving the sixteen Gym Badges of both Johto and Kanto. At the very summit of Mt. Silver, the player may battle with Red. In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Moltres can also be found here.
Mt. Silver (Japanese: シロガネやま Mt. Shirogane) is a large mountain in Johto located west of Victory Road and Indigo Plateau. The location is also referred to as Silver Cave in  Gold and Silver or Mt. Silver Cave (Japanese: シロガネやまどうくつ Mt. Shirogane Cave) in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Mt. Silver can be reached from Kanto via 28 after receiving the sixteen Gym Badges of both Johto and Kanto. At the very summit of Mt. Silver, the player may battle with Red. In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Moltres can also be found here.

A field based on Mt. Silver also appears in Pokémon Stadium 2's Kanto Gym Leader Castle.

In the anime, it is the home of Silver Town, where the Johto League's Silver Conference is held.

The cave has only one entrance, unlike all other caves found in Gold, but goes deep into the mountain. In the cave's final room, the player will encounter Red, who will wordlessly challenge the player to what is the highest-leveled Trainer battle in the Pokémon series.

In HeartGold and SoulSilver, Mt. Silver is much larger than before. Flash is no longer needed to light up the cave. The higher sections of the cave, where Red is located, require Rock Climb to be accessible. In addition, a hailstorm is present at the summit; this weather can become diamond dust on certain days. At times, the player must also venture onto the slopes on the mountain's sides in order to climb higher.

Later, Red and Gold train together at Mt. Silver. Their training session is seen in two special rounds printed in Pokémon the Comic. In the HeartGold & SoulSilver, the Radio Director admitted to Gold that he did spy on him training with Red on Mt. Silver. That was the basis of an idea for the Radio Director to move into the television business with - a kids cartoon called Proteam Omega.

Location of Mt. Silver in Johto.
Pokémon world locations

Mt. Silver (Japanese: シロガネやま Mt. Shirogane) is a large mountain in Johto located west of Victory Road and Indigo Plateau. The location is also referred to as Silver Cave in Pokémon Gold and Silver or Mt. Silver Cave (Japanese: シロガネやまどうくつ Mt. Shirogane Cave) in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver. Mt. Silver can be reached from Kanto via Route 28 after receiving the sixteen Gym Badges of both Johto and Kanto.

Geography

In the games, Mt. Silver is off-limits to all but the most skilled of Trainers. After the player has received all sixteen badges of Johto and Kanto, Professor Oak will give the player permission to travel here.

The route to the area is rough, though no HMs are explicitly required to reach the Pokémon Center just outside the entrance. Inside, however, the cave is dark, requiring Flash to see. Many high-level Pokémon reside in the cave, including rare Pokémon not found elsewhere in the Johto region, like Larvitar and Misdreavus.

The cave has only one entrance, unlike all other caves found in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, but goes deep into the mountain. In the cave's final room, the player will encounter Red, who will wordlessly challenge the player to what is the highest-leveled Trainer battle in the Pokémon series.

In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Mt. Silver is much larger than before. Flash is no longer needed to light up the cave. The higher sections of the cave, where Red is located, require Rock Climb to be accessible. At times, the player must also venture onto the slopes on the mountain's sides in order to climb higher. In addition, a heavy snowfall is present at the summit, which assumes the hail weather condition in battle; this weather can become diamond dust on certain days.

In the Pokémon Adventures manga

In the Gold, Silver & Crystal arc of Pokémon Adventures, Red goes to the springs in Mt. Silver to recuperate from injuries he suffered from being frozen by Lorelei's Pokémon during the Yellow arc. While there, he meets Sabrina, a former enemy of his, who is there to recuperate from similar injuries.

Later, Red and Gold train together at Mt. Silver. Their training session is seen in two special rounds printed in Pokémon the Comic. In the HeartGold & SoulSilver arc, the Radio Director admitted to Gold that he did spy on him training with Red on Mt. Silver. That was the basis of an idea for the Radio Director to move into the television business with - a kids cartoon called Proteam Omega.

In the Pocket Monsters HGSS Jō's Big Adventure manga
