Mt. Moon is a mountain located in northern Kanto, between Pewter City in the west and Cerulean City in the east. Climbing it is not possible. To get through it, travelers need to travel through the caves. There are two exits in the caves, one on Route 3 and another on Route 4.

It is known for its frequent meteor falls. The shards of metorites that fall here become Moon Stones.

Mt. Moon is also known for being one of the few places that wild Clefairy can be found.

The caves out the mountain consist of three separate floors. In Generation I, the items found within Mt. Moon include two Potions, a Rare Candy, an Escape Rope, a Moon Stone, TM 12 Water Gun, TM 01 Mega Punch, and an HP Up.

The mountain is also known for being home to Pokémon fossils. Brock digs for fossils here in his spare time. Also, Team Rocket tried to steal the fossils found in Mt. Moon in the Generation I games.
