Mothim (Japanese: ガーメイル Garmeil) is a Bug/Flying-type Pokémon.

Biology

Physiology

Mothim has four tan-colored wings, two large and two small, with brown circles adorning them. The wings split to three at the tip of the larger wings and splits in two at the tips of the smaller wings. Mothim has a gray head, with two red and white antennae above its head. Mothim's body is gray also and its legs are white. It also has a small gray tail that splits into two. It doesn't matter what form Burmy was in before it evolved; Mothim will always look the same.

Trivia

Origin

Mothim is based on an adult Bagworm Moth, which only fully mature if male.

Name origin

Mothim's Japanese name is derived from ga, the Japanese word for moth, and an intentional misspelling of the English word "male". Mothim comes from "moth" and "him".
