Release information
This card was included in the English Fossil expansion as both a Holofoil and a Non Holofoil card, first released in the Japanese Mystery of the Fossils expansion as only a Holofoil card. In Japan, it was reprinted with different artwork by Ken Sugimori, available as a prize at the 1999 Tropical Mega Battle tournament. Those who were not in the main event could still battle each other, earning stamps for every battle they participated in. Those who completed their stamp booklet were awarded either Moltres, Articuno or Zapdos phone card at random in a sealed envelope. The Non Holofoil print of this card was later reprinted in the English Legendary Collection expansion.

Trivia
The phone card promo is slightly longer than a normal trading card, as the print had to adopt the same dimensions as a regular Japanese phone card. That print utilizes the same stock Sugimori artwork of Moltres that was later used on Rocket's Moltres from Gym Heroes and on the Moltres Legendary Card from Pokémon Trading Card Game.
Origin
Wildfire's Japanese name, Yamayaki, refers to a Japanese festival in which withered grass on a mountain is burned. Dive Bomb's Japanese name is a spelling error of the Japanese name of Sky Attack, a move in the Pokémon games that Moltres can learn. This card's English Pokédex entry comes from Pokémon Red and Blue, though it is slightly reworded. The Japanese entry comes from Pokémon Red and Green.
