It evolves into Mr. Mime when leveled up while knowing Mimic.

Biology

Physiology

Mime Jr. is a small pink Pokémon with a black torso. Mime Jr. has a red bump on its stomach and a typical red clown nose on its face. Mime Jr. appears to be wearing a black, crooked hat with a white ball on it.

Mime Jr. has a knack for imitating others. It has been known to Mimic its foes in order to create distractions.

James's Mime Jr.

Mime Jr. first appeared in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew as Ilene's pet.

Mew took the form of a Mime Jr. in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.

James obtains a Mime Jr. from his "nana" and "pop-pop" in Sweet Baby James.

A Mime Jr. and a Bonsly that were stars of a television show went missing in King and Queen for a Day. When the two Pokémon were found, they were discovered to be sick and James's Mime Jr. and Brock's Bonsly had to fill in for them.

Hiori's Mime Jr.

In the Phantom Thief Pokémon 7 manga

Hiori, the hero of Phantom Thief Pokémon 7, has a Mime Jr. While Mime Jr.'s primary duty to Hiori is to receive messages intended for Hiori's alter-ego, the phantom thief named Pokémon 7, he has also used it in battle a couple of times. It first appears in Seven's Real Identity In Peril.

Trivia

  • Mime Jr.'s US name was revealed on May 28, 2006, the same day that Weavile's name was revealed.
  • Mime Jr. is one of three Pokémon on the player's team in the demo version of Diamond and Pearl.
  • Mime Jr. is one of the few baby Pokémon with a wide moveset, learning its last move on level 50. Other baby Pokémon rarely learn any moves past level 20.
  • To date, Mime Jr. is the only Pokémon with a catch rate of 145.
  • Mime Jr. is one of eight Pokémon whose name has a non-alphabetic character in it, the others being Nidoran♀, Nidoran♂, Farfetch'd, Mr. Mime, Porygon2, Ho-Oh and Porygon-Z.
    • Its evolutionary line is the only one in which every Pokémon has a non-alphabetic character.
  • In HeartGold and SoulSilver, if the player has a Mime Jr. as their partner in Copycat's room, the Mime Jr. will "mimic" the player when interacted with.

Origin

Mime Jr. is based on a mime and a clown. Mime Jr. also looks like ice cream in a cone with whipped cream at the top.

Name origin

Mime Jr.'s name is based on that of its evolved form, Mr. Mime. Its Japanese name, Manene, is based on 真似 mane, mimicry. The -nene in its name could come from nene, Spanish for boy.
