Biology
Biology
Physiology
Metang is a robotic Pokémon with teal, metallic skin. It has a disc-shaped body with a pair of flat, gray spikes on either side toward the rear. A jet cannot scratch Metang due to its strong body. There is a gray spike in the middle of its face, similar to a nose. A pair of red eyes reside in two holes in its metallic skin. While it appears to lack legs, it has a pair of thick arms with three claws on the ends. The arms are considerably thicker below the elbow and have a flat, blunt protrusion extending over the joint.
Metang is a robotic lifeform that has a disc-shaped body with a pair of appendages that resemble Beldum. It has two red eyes and a pointy nose.  Even though Metang and its evolved forms are mechanical creatures, they still have emotions, the need to eat and a way of reproducing. Metang has been said to be related to Magneton due to the fact that both of them are partially Steel-type that create electromagnetic waves to float in the air, and probably due to the fact that they evolve in a similar fashion, it takes two Beldum to evolve into a Metang and two Metang to evolve into a Metagross. When not levitating, it stands on its appendages, similar to its evolution. It may use its appendages like boosters to gain speed.
Gender differences
This Pokémon is genderless.

Special abilities
Metang is formed when two Beldum fuse together. A magnetic nervous system joins the brains of these two Pokémon. This linkage allows Metang to generate a strong, psychokinetic power that is doubled. However, this does not increase its intellect. This Pokémon's high intelligence and strong magnetic field are other sources of powerful psychic energy. In addition to generating psychic power, its magnetism allows Metang to hover in midair. It is able to rotate its arms backwards in order to travel at speeds over 60 mph (100 km/h) in search of prey. When Metang finds its prey, it uses its psychic power to stop it from escaping. Then it firmly grabs onto the prey with its claws, never letting go. Metang's claws are able to rip through steel. This Pokémon lives on List of Pokémon by habitat and harsh mountains. It pursues Nosepass, loving its magnetic minerals.
Metang's body is magnetised, and it uses magnetism to move, communicate, and control its attacks. It is said to be related to Magneton, but Metang's magnetism focuses on Psychic moves instead of Electric moves. Metang is capable of two rare Steel moves, Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash. It can also use some Psychic-type moves such as Psychic and Zen Headbutt. Metang has a few Rock-type moves at its disposal, such as Rock Tomb and Rock Slide. A couple of anomalies in Metang's movepool include Grass Knot and Sludge Bomb. Metang can also learn Hyper Beam, despite being second in a 3-tiered evolution line.

Behavior
Evolution
Metang turns its arms to the rear for traveling at high speed, at over 60 miles per hour.
Metang evolves from Beldum and evolves into Metagross.

Habitat
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

<div style="float:center; display:flex; flex-flow:row wrap;">
Metang tend to live in areas with rough terrain, but they are even harder to find than Beldum (which are already very rare).

Major appearances
Morrison's Metang
Metang debuted in Saved by the Beldum, after Morrison's Beldum evolved whilst battling Jump's Electabuzz in the Ever Grande Conference. It was mostly seen outside its Poké Ball.

Other
In Bibarel Gnaws Best!, the head engineer used a Metang with an Aggron and Magmar to attack a Bibarel, but Bibarel dodged its attack. It was eventually defeated by a combination of Ash's Chimchar's Flamethrower, and Ash's Turtwig's and Brock's Sudowoodo's Razor Leaf attacks.

In Steeling Peace of Mind!, a Metang was affected by Team Galactic's meddling on Iron Island.

In The Synchronicity Test!, Alain used a Metang in a battle against Ash's Noivern and was able to defeat it in a close match. In Analysis Versus Passion!, it was revealed that Metang had evolved into a Metagross.

Starting in A Mission of Ultra Urgency!, Sophocles used a Ride Metang for Ultra Guardians missions. In Sparking Confusion!, it battled a wild Alolan Golem.

In Flying Pikachu, Rising Higher and Higher!, Orla's Metagross appeared as a Metang during a flashback.

Minor appearances
In Pillars of Friendship!, J's henchmen used multiple Metang to attack the Battle Pyramid. They were eventually defeated by Dawn's Bubble Beam.

In Zoroark: Master of Illusions, a Metang was on the Cianwood Greens Pokémon Baccer team with a Beldum and Metagross, which competed in the Pokémon Baccer World Cup. It reappeared in Genesect and the Legend Awakened.

Ash & Pikachu
Morrison's Metang
Similar to his anime counterpart, Morrison owns a Metang. It appeared in A Clash Of Wills!! Eternal Rivals?!, where it evolved from his Beldum.

Pokémon Adventures
Steven owns several Metang that first appeared in Ring Ring Goes Beldum. He uses one to help him locate and dig up rare stones in various caves. Four others were used as standing platforms for each of the Hoenn Elite Four members.

The Battle Tower rented a Metang, which was stolen by Guile Hideout in The Final Battle VII.

Pokémon Try Adventure
A Metang appeared in TA02.

Trivia
Trivia
*Although it is said that Metang is made up of two Beldum, there is no visible evidence of this. In the only anime episode to date showing a Beldum evolution, Saved by the Beldum, when Morrison's Beldum evolves into Metang, it "creates" another Beldum and newly developed main body to evolve, instead of fusing with another Beldum. Likewise, if a Metang evolution is shown, it is highly unlikely it would involve two Metang evolving together. This is similar to the games.
* Although it is said that Metang is made up of two Beldum, this is never shown in any Pokémon media, though it is mentioned in the Pokédex. In Saved by the Beldum, the only anime episode to date to show a Beldum evolution, when Morrison's Beldum evolves into Metang, it "creates" another Beldum and newly developed main body to evolve, instead of fusing with another Beldum. Despite this, in The Synchronicity Test!, the Pokédex claims that "Metang is created from the union of two Beldum."
*Metang's number in the Hoenn Pokédex and the Fiore Browser is the same: 191. This makes it one of thirteen Pokémon (only five evolution families) to have the same numbers in more than one Pokédex-like listing.
* Metang's number in the Hoenn Pokédex in Generation III and the Fiore Browser are the same: 191.
*In the earlier sprites, it has a small crease in his head. It does not show it the later sprites.
* Metang and its evolutionary relatives all share both their standard and hidden Abilities with Registeel.

Origin
Origin
Metang has the features of two Beldum merged together, along with a flying saucer-like rim with spikes jutting out. It is also similar to a crab.
Metang is made of two Beldum merged. Aside from that, it is visually similar to both flying saucers and crabs.

Metang (Japanese: メタング Metang) is a dual-type Steel/Psychic Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Beldum starting at level 20 and evolves into Metagross starting at level 45.

Biology

Metang is a robotic Pokémon with teal, metallic skin. It has a disc-shaped body with a pair of flat, gray spikes on either side toward the rear. A jet cannot scratch Metang due to its strong body. There is a gray spike in the middle of its face, similar to a nose. A pair of red eyes reside in two holes in its metallic skin. While it appears to lack legs, it has a pair of thick arms with three claws on the ends. The arms are considerably thicker below the elbow and have a flat, blunt protrusion extending over the joint.

This Pokémon lives on rough terrains and harsh mountains. It pursues Nosepass, loving its magnetic minerals.

Evolution

Metang evolves from Beldum and evolves into Metagross.

(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)

They were eventually defeated by Piplup's Bubble Beam.

In Zoroark: Master of Illusions, a Metang was on the Cianwood Greens Pokémon Baccer team with a Beldum and Metagross, which competed in the Pokémon Baccer World Cup. It reappeared in Genesect and the Legend Awakened.

Trivia

 • Although it is said that Metang is made up of two Beldum, this is never shown in any Pokémon media, though it is mentioned in the Pokédex.
 • Metang's number in the Hoenn Pokédex in Generation III and the Fiore Browser are the same: 191.
 • Metang and its evolutionary relatives all share both their standard and hidden Abilities with Registeel.

Origin

Metang is made of two Beldum merged. Aside from that, it is visually similar to both flying saucers and crabs.

Name origin

Metang may be a combination of metal and tang (onomatopoeic sound of metal being struck) or étang (French for the color pond blue). Metang is also an anagram of magnet.
